Hello,
I know IRCHA is down the road a bit, but I did want everyone to know that we WILL be having the 2014 Auto Contest. I would like to thank Ray Stacy for running the contest in the past and with his blessing and the approval of the IRCHA board I am going to pick up in his retirement.

Details, official flyer and prizes will be announced as we finalize everything. (Yes, we already have some great prizes allocated for the event!!!)

Thank you,
-Ryan Witchey

auto contest
This will be my first year competing or spectating in the auto rotation contests and I have a few questions:
*What are the rules for the auto contest, and what is the judging criteria?
*When and what site will it be held at?
*Will i need to preregister?

_thank you in advanced_

We all know Raja is going to win so it's probably best to post the prizes for 2nd place on down

Raja should have a class on his own. I think you are a great guy Raja but I also think it's time to let other modelers a chance to win. Therefore maybe next year you can demo how it's done and let others participate.

Maybe everyone else needs to step up and become better that Raja. That is the nature of open competition.

The other choise is to regulate him out, as writting a clause that disallows a repeat champion for participating. (sad if it comes to that)

Sometimes repeat champions retire and become mentors or contest directors as payback to the hobby, but I am not sure if he feels ready for that.

I think he should win it as long as he can. He put in the practice. He should reap the rewards.

If you guys want to win it
Then practice and earn it. I am no better than anyone else and just learned over the years no victory was ever given to me. I like to compete, its fun. No different than the folks that do the speed contest, the One competition or the night fly. Is someone going to tell one of the pros you're too good you shouldn't compete?

Who got 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th - what were the scores?

Those looking to take the plaque home in 2015 need to know

Raja - you hit the score, you should take it, especially with the tank you are flying

We need to get more people interested in competing then - we had 14 of us last year if I remember correctly and I thought that was a low turnout.

Auto's are (IMO) an essential skill and not hard to learn.

I do think that if we can get enough people to sign up we should have a a 450 auto contest (325mm blades - spec, say Align 325's) , in addition to the open class. This would give a real interesting results!

This is what I did this weekend.

Congrats Raja, if anyone has ever seen him at a funfly, you would understand why he wins year after year. Practice makes perfect and Raja DEF puts in the practice.

When Uncle Sam ships me back to the states I will be ready to compete.

I remember when it was Ron Lund and Nathan Spencer winning and folks started to complain. Thats when they changed it up to give others a chance. That was wrong. I believe if you can win year after year then you deserve to keep winning until somebody comes along and beats you! Nobody wants to win the Super Bowl because the other team forfeited! A win is only satisfying if you beat your opponent when they are at their best! Congrats to Raja! You Deserve it!

I will have a full report tonight or tomorrow.

Turn out was low, but I do have to say that it didn't help to not have a defined location for the even until Friday afternoon and I am not sure it was really mentioned to pilots.

I am 100% open to anyone who wants to run the contest in the future, but I think things went smoothly this year. Papa Bear Ray Stacy stopped by and gave his two thumbs up.

If I am running it in the future, there will be no restrictions on who can participate. In fact we had one of the top 3D pilots in Europe compete and he ended up 6th place, so we have no problem getting very competitive pilots in this contest!

FYI- on the duration auto the person in second place for purely duration wasn't far from Raja's time.

Congrats Raja. I have seen him practice and if I remember right he ends every flight with an autorotation to a given spot. So basicly he practices every time he flies.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
