Retracts -- Fusuno Agusta AW109 -- 500 sized-- Any sources?
Hi -- a few years back I dabbled just a bit into the world of Scale flying when I picked up a Fusuno Agusta AW-109 fuselage for a spare Trex 500 I had in my fleet.

The heli looks good in the air --

but the stock retracts that came with the kit are really cheap, and fragile. The nose gear doesn't really fit up into the fuselage when retracted as the strut and wheel interfere with the rest of the nose gear mechanics. The non-steerable nose gear makes for some pretty poor ground handling. The main gear aren't much to write home about either, when it comes to having any redeeming qualities. It takes a couple of extra servos to get these three retracts up and down.

So -- have any of you run across what you would consider to be a decent set of trike retracts, with a steerable nose wheel, that would fit this heli and function well?

Retract
I installed the TT retracts in my TT109 fuselage kit. Although they don't steer they are fairly substantial.
It's a thought.
in previous models I have installed Robart systems which I did have to chop about a bit. It they worked well too
They were air driven though. but the front wheel steered via a servo and Y lead to the tail rotor.

Hope this helps

Electric Retracts
I just finished my 700 size 109... I checked the lengths and weight of the machine, and went shopping on HK!!!!
They did not have any struts that would work, but these came with a metal trunuin and a short stub (about 5/32 dia)..
Then I made up my own gear legs from brake line...a little silver solder and some prime and paint and they came out looking pretty good... this thing stands on the ground like a BULLDOG!!!

Down side, is that I did't get a nose gear, so the forward gear doesn't steer... but we are on grass fields 99% of the time, so I did not really worry about that... but if you look through their stuff.. pretty sure you can come up with something that will do the job, and maybe even one that will let you steer..
The electric are great... 2 Y harnesses to one channel in the tx and you are done... no servos, air lines...
That is how I cured the "SKINNY LEG" problem!!!
Also, the way that I mounted the mains, they fold up and do not go into the wheel wells due to me putting the wheels towards the outside to gain a bit more stance width...and when flying, nobody has notice yet!!! (Except for me!!!)
I do not have any pic's of the bottom when retracted, but that will depend on how you make your gear legs, length, straight, bent!! Let me know if you would like a shot of them up...

HK-15090S is the PN number I used.... and I did have to get them from the HK warehouse..

Hope this might help you out... Stan
