Mark,
Go take Dave up on his offer and after Dave lets you see the V-Control you can call me and tell me what you think of it. lol

I have FAR reaching connections Dave. lol Who do you think got Sam Gammo and Mark into their first V-Bar and walked them through setup? What on earth does a Logo-head like me have to do with nitro hounds like those two? I once was a nitro hound myself.

The chance to fly with a accomplished contest pilot is my dream. Picking Kyle's brain and learning is what flying is all about for me. Best way to get better to fly with someone who is lots better. If I lived in driving distance Dave would have to run me off with a shotgun every day or two...

Yes Norman, V-bar run's through my veins now and I even have one (1) electric heli to keep the piece, and feel like I am still part of the group. But I will NEVER give up my nitro babies.

I was hoping Kyle would be at LA3D this weekend and I was going to ask him to fly my Nitro. I would love to see what Kyle could do with one.

No questions needing answering, V-bar just works!!! I just wanted you or Kyle's opinion on how my birds fly. I think they are awesome but it would be interesting to hear your comments.

I think I am going to pass on Vegas this year. Too often the weather just plain sucks! It's very difficult for me to get weekends off so I have to pick and choose carefully. I think 4 of the last 5 years the weather was horrible. I wish they would change the dates for that fun fly.

I may pop up to Mark's one weekend and maybe we could all get together at the Dahl's house if they would be willing to have us.

Is the battery opening/mounting room any larger than the old frame sets (550/600)? Are the frame sides the same as the original plastic frames or are they new for this model?

Was trying to find anywhere above where it might have said, but are
690ish blades still tops for recommended length?

I'll call it the same as the 600SE. I believe the 690SX uses the same boom as the 600SE, and doing a side-by-side comparison of the belt lengths, the 690's belt is just a tad longer, but the drive pulleys are larger in diameter...so it all works out to the same I think.

Note: I have not seen any official "specs" on the heli stating the max blade length, but I'll go on record saying I don't believe the heli is designed to go past 693's (695's) based on the info I have stated above.

Sounds/looks like a great 700. Any idea when prices will be announced or any general range on the airframe's price?

since it shares a lot of the same parts im hoping its not much more than the 600sx... it would be awesome if they had a mini v, motor combo... I have a feeling they may use the yge 160 if they had a esc combo

I have been stock piling my kit for this bird... I have the Heli Jive 120 a full size blueline, and a 500KV HKIII, I just need servos and batteries!

Dave can you give us an idea of Kyle's setup?

Q: "...can you give us an idea of Kyle's setup?"

As an intro to "why" the set-up, I'll say this. When the idea of the 690SX was first floated, one of the goals was to make the power train for the heli as bullet-proof as possible. Kyle has been spoiled over the past two years, having a heli that you just can't hurt (Logo 700), and he wanted that in the 690SX if possible.

So one option to really toughen-up a drive train is to use a large pinion in relationship to the main gear. Since Mikado makes the Mod 1.0 Herringbone pinions up to 15T (which is good and large), that was the first choice of pinion...but you then need a motor of the proper KV for that gearing.

The 4525 (desired motor size for the heli) had a KV too high (520kv), so the answer was to have the 4525 built with a kv low enough to work with the gear ratio. Thus the creation by Scorpion of the 4525-370kv motor, which is what Kyle is running (with the 15T pinion), with a YGE 160, 12S 5000mah packs.

You can of course fit motors with a higher kv and use a smaller pinion (they go down to 11T). But the consequence of that will be some reduction in the toughness of the gear train. Just depends on how hard you want to fly the heli. Up to each pilot to determine the set-up best suited for himself.
