You've got the X50e tailcase, I belive it's the newest one.
(The nitro torque tube version was released before the electric.)
Notice that the tailshaft bevel gear is mounted the other way too.

My X50 TT flybar version has the bottom clamp tailcase you describe first.

Maybe all newer kits ship with the "updated"(?) tailcase..?

Interesting. Allthough the manual shows the "old" tail case, it shows the bevel gear mounted like mine actually did ("new" way) with the pin through the left side of the tail shaft. I find the manual the weakest link in the kit.

It seems that they are updating details as they go along, probably with each production run, but forget about the manuals.

Seems to be some manual update issues with the new e550 fbl too, from what I've read.

Download the X50e manual, it's good to have the correct parts numbers when you need new parts.

The tails are the same as in the manuals on mine, flybar tt version left and electric right :

My tail case is something inbetween your two. It's angled to the right but doesn't show the bevel gear bearing and clamps on the right instead of below. If I see correctly you also have the lining which mine doesn't.
Do you get a larger pitch range with the electric or is the tail shaft shorter?

Your output gear is made to be used with either the X50 or X50E output shafts. Tail output shaft is the same size, the blades are just closer to the boom with the X50E tail case.
