That's really screwed up. Phoenix was good for a very long time. What happened?

The flying is not bad now after 9 updates.lol...
Still has some collision detection bugs though.

I've bounced it off the ground at a simulated 100mph knife edged with no damage.

Doesn't really matter though.
I knew it was a crash and I'm getting accurate stick time.

I have never liked simming in the past. Last night just for fun I made the heli as large as I could (16 ft) and turned the simulation speed up to 125. It flew very slow and stable. I then started reducing the size of the heli and got to where it flew awesome and still looked very large. I played with it for hours.
Try it and You might like it. My grand children love flying the 16 ft planes. Could this have been done on version 4?
Thanks Jake.

The only way to not crash is up

I used the link from above and went back and installed 4.0 into a completely separate folder, and renamed the application execute file to Phoenix 4. The two versions will coexist, but every time you start one or the other, you have to go in and set up the transmitter the first time.

Another thing, I saw was that 4.0 skipped rev r, and went straight to s. There doesn't seem to be any way to get a lot of the halis that were originally installed on 4 through updates (Goblin, Trex 700, etc) back into the new 4 version.

I have to feel that despite the quirks on 5, it is now back to flying pretty much like 4 was, so I am going to just go ahead and stick with it.

5.0J out now. Gone is the helisubmarine mode. Water acts like water. It's behaving quite well, now.

Is funny as I was just working on this idea myself today and not that I'm doing much more then shooting fish in a barrel here, but in working on this I basically found the main file that is of a issue is the one called "controller_0.pxt" which if installed in the usual default way, is in the PhoenixRC>Settings folder in your users Documents folder.

From what I understand, this is the file that gets set from the calibration being done.

So what I did was, setup one via V5, then copied and saved that in the same folder with a V5 thrown in the the name, then did the calibration in V4, and saved that with a V4 thrown in.

Then I just made a shortcut to this folder, and now for either version of the sim I want to run, I just go there first and name the one for it the proper way.

Is a funky way for sure, but at least I don't have to do the whole recal again.

Now I did also find at least for me, that the controller mappings will be dif too and/or lost perhaps it is, what ever it is, I still get a prompt that I have not set a controller.

So what I did for that was set up two controllers after I did each recalibration and again, named one V4, an one V5.

So now its just a thing of, first rename the controller_0.pxt file, start the version I want, then when prompted for a controller, just go the the version to match that, and I'm off.

Again, is all kinda funky way to have to do this, an perhaps others have a better, but seemed like the best way to have both versions on there.

What I found is that if my screen saver activates, the heli will be invisible until I close the program and then restart it. Then the heli again operates normally.

The issue with me is that my transmitter and program doesn't seem to talk to windows and keep the screen saver from starting. Big PITA.

It wasn't my screen saver.
It was a Java update pop up....I think.

v5.0.j garbled coloration of models
Just upgraded to v5.0.j. Coloration of the models is garbled. Windows Vista and Intel Pentium dual-core T2310 processor. Flies OK, after much tweaking.

I noticed they are much less realistic looking...Blurry?

It is flying pretty good but I can still do a high speed inverted pass and glance off the ground with no damage though.

Should have waited for 5.0.r
