I should be receiving my 28X tomorrow (if UPS delivers on time).

F.Y.I, like LaDon, I am a Team JR Americas guy (and proud of it).

This thread is for the 28X. The V-Control is a nice radio, but this is not the appropriate place to discuss it (as LaDon stated-he did not bring it up).

I use a variety of FBL units (there are many excellent ones on the market, including the V-Bar) and I like to be able to use whichever one I want at a particular time, in a particular aircraft.

The 28X will work with any of them, as well as my older flybarred machines, and my fixed wing aircraft.

Apology accepted and I can understand how you come to that conclusion. I do believe tho that a guy could use a usb Bluetooth adapter in the usb port and an app to make it work. I also understand why they took the Bluetooth out of the 28x. I am not sure that they were right tho. I do think that if a person wanted to you could set it up through a usb cord but wireless would be really nice. I always have my computer there because of the other things like the castle settings and stuff that you still can do so it don't make any difference to me. Like I said before the only thing about vcontrol I don't like is that it is limited to using their stuff only. Kind of like the cgy 750 from futaba. Yeah you can use it with adapters but that makes for a rats nest of wires. I will say this about the 28x. Nobody has those gimbals. Wow are they smooth. Also nobody has that resolution and I will say this I didn't think that a person could notice that. I figured what the heck did they make that for but it is noticeable. It seems really precise and quick too. I haven't used it a lot since I only got it Monday but it is nice

Thank you LaDon.

Agreed...... the 28X gimbals are works of art! If I ever get back to flying planes more, I will likely get a 28X. Larger scale electric jets have been calling to me for a while now, so a 28X may be in my future as well

It has been quite a wait, but well worth it! The 28X arrived today (it is on charge right now). The fit and finish is beautiful-the sticks the best I have ever felt-PERIOD!

It takes longer to boot up the first time for the day. If you turn it off, then on again (as you would between flights), it boots up much more quickly.

If you let it sit for three hours or more, it takes longer to boot up again.

We set up Ryan's forza 700 today and flew it. All I can say is wow!! This radio is everything we thought it was going to be and more. Ryan says it is the most solid radio he has flown. Precise locked in and everything. Now that I have do a vbar and Heli move with it I can set this up so fast it is amazing. I just need to make a page of wigets and it will be even faster. This radio is more than we dreamed of. Yeah yeah I know we fly for jr Americas but I kid you none this is the cats a$$

I could not agree more with what LaDon stated (above)!

I now have nine helicopters and one fixed-wing model set up and flown with the JR 28X. Some of the helicopters had to be upgraded from DSM2 to DMSS. Some needed a lot of work to neaten up the wiring. Some needed some maintenence (found when I took the old radio equipment out). It took about three weeks to accomplish all of it.

It took a while to get the hang of set-up through the Android interface, but it became very easy after the first machine was set up and tested. I followed the advice of some other JR Team Members and built one template for Fixed Wing and one for Helicopters. This makes things go a lot faster. The interface is very intuitive.

Everything I have flown with the 28X seems to be more precise and have a more connected feel to it.

Making the Jump to DMSS
I am currently flying a JR 12X. Skookum FBLs and a Vbar.

6 helis and 3 planes to setup. I want the 28x for the ergos and gimbals. Don't see much activity on this radio. Haven't found any videos for programming of features in English. Little help pointing the way. Need to convince myself to make the jump.

Thanks in advance.

Get rid of skookum, go Vbar and buy Vcontrol and be done with it. For what you're doing money down drain on a 28x anyhow in comparison.

V Control
Thanks for the 'Jump Ship' suggestion, but I like the feel of my JR radio. Once I set up a model and tune it, thats how it stays. Its all about comfort and a familiar feel to my Tx. Tried a V control....nice system. But it feels like a Spektrum. Nice...but kinda cheap. I have issue with Mikado. I hate that you have to pay and upgrade their software to use its full functionality. Not to catch fire, but Kontronik does the same. Makes you buy another item to operate their top of the line equipment. Doesn't sit well with me.

As I said thanks. But if I jump brands...it would be to Futaba. Plus the 12x makes short work of biplanes and big planks.

OICU812....see your in Canada. What about the National pride???!?! NO, 'Oh Canada'?? Skookum is a Canadian product. Plus, I have 6 of them and 1 Vbar. Love the interface and tail holding. Doubt I'm buying 6 new NEOs.

Have a good weekend.

'Jump Ship' suggestion
Ray, that's not what I said...

I like my JR radios systems.

812 simply made a recommendation...and I asked a question.

What's the beef?...

Makes no difference to me if people want to stay in the past. I said same thing about flybars in 2007 to....I've been in the hobby and on this site for a very long time, if you knew me you'd know I ain't trying to sell ya..

Do what ya like and enjoy I'll continue on with my set and forget vbars and Vcontrol. I quit chasing the latest and greatest loooong time ago to be honest. I've tried every FBL system out there and up to last year damn near every Heli to, now I want to just fly what works over and over again without hassles and keep money in my pocket.
Be well...

It wasn't that long ago that vcontrol come out so I would still call that chasing the latest and greatest. Anyway that is what a lot of ppl called the vcontrol. If you read wha raholek said he also has 3 planes he wants set up on it also. Vcontrol is not worth a crap for that. First you have to use a gyro. Well if you want to fly a competition then that is out. They are not allowed. Sure not everyone is flying comps but who knows if they are. Yep I will agree vbar still in my opinion is at the top of the heap with a couple others. Yes vbar is set it and forget it. I have to agree with engineer here the vcontrol is cheap looking and cheap feeling. We have few friends that have bought them and Ryan has tried them and didn't care for the feel or how they worked. I also don't like the idea of being tied to one setup period. We have tried a lot of different fbl systems and yes we like vbar but have now switched to a different one that flies just as good. It does a few things better than vbar and vbar does a few better than it and for us it is equal to the vbar with the exception of a couple of things it does better is more suited to our flying style. I am glad you like your vcontrol as there needs to be competition for products out there or nothing would ever get better. We would all be driving the same cars trucks and the same helis and airplanes. That would suck. As far as vcontrol and the one thing that it can do that the 28x can't yet ( I still think a blue tooth dongle and app would still allow the 28x to program vbar ) sure does not even come close to out weighing the capabilities that the 28x can do plus the quality of the machine work and precision of the work that has been put into it. After flying both the only way you could trade me 20 vcontrol a for my 28x is if I had them all sold so I could buy another 28x. Then I prolly wouldn't chance it

Well LaDon;

Isn't the XG14 an upgrade for 12X owners - a cheap one. Not as pretty.

I am still waiting for the XG11 with the XG14 sticks and s/w update - a no brainer.

I've been flying R/C since 1974, and helicopters since 1976. I still fly fixed wing quite a bit, although I prefer helicopters.

At present, I fly four different types of FBL units (including V-Bar), and will by trying more/different ones as new offerings come to the market (I am very interested in trying the Spartan).

As LaDon stated, with the 28X, I am not trapped with any one brand of FBL unit, and also have the option to use a gyro or not in my fixed wing ships. I now have 19 machines (both fixed-wing and helicopter) programmed into the 28X, and will be programming my 65" P-40 into it next.

I owned and flown the top of the line JR radios for the last 10 years or so (the lower level models since 1982) and have never been disappointed. I prefer to have the best quality radio available, and am at a point in my life when I can afford to do so.

I did have the opportunity to fly the VBC a few weeks ago and it worked well, but my experience was similar to that of LaDon's and Ryan's.

Yes it would be four stroker. The xg14 has the xbus and the dmss protocol that the 12x does not have. I am like you also I don't mind the looks of the xg14 which looks a lot like vcontrol in a way but I prefer the traditional look of the radio like the 28x. I would not call the xg14 a high priced radio tho. Compare it to say the DX 18 for instance it is approx $200 cheaper and the only thing that the DX 18 has that the 14 don't is 4 channels. No xbus or sbus system and an old protocol platform that has worked but Futaba, Jeti, and Jr all have way better protocol systems and quite possibly Tranis also but I don't know much about them. So in my opinion the xg14 would still be an upgrade to the 12x easily. I also can see where a person would want the xg11 with xg14 gimbals. If I can remember to ask at ircha I will try and find out if that is ever going to be a possibility. A couple of big wigs from JR Japan is going to be there
