Has anyone used the Airtronics RDS 8000 to setup the GT5.1 for flybarless and if so can you give your setup. Thanks

Did you make it to steps 14, 15 and 16? That would appear to be the setup steps that control swash travel volumes.

were are you seeing steps 16 17 and 18,and the only thing I see listed that maybe is what your talking about in the ace gt5.1 system configuration table would be SW delay level.

I have not used it on a Airtronics, but it is the same as using any normal receiver setup.

Braze yourself, the entire setup is not very intuitive.
There are several GT5 threads in RR that have much better information than their lousy instruction.

Are you using it in a Nitro or Electric?

Hey I'm sorry about the wrong step thing, thats what happens when I reply back at 3:00 a.m. in the morning. There is no 14 15 or 16 either in the instructions I have from Ace.All I have is a 12 step check list for quick start and a GT5.1 -3 axis gyro system configurations table. and the build manual itself. And for money pit its a New thunder tiger Flybarless E325 I got for Christmas from my Kids.

Well I wrapped my head around working with the gyro unit and with the directions have perfect throttle cyclic and pitch and the ailerons work great each way. But one wonderful problem left is that I have both ailerons working like mini cyclic with up and down elevator. Interesting huh. And Terry thanks for all the help.

Did you setup your radio program (not the GT5) to pure mechanical one servo per/axis control???

And not 120degree CCPM?

That's completely normal for a 120 deg swash. The ball on the swash should not move on the main shaft as you apply forward and back elevator. In order for that to happen, the rear servo will move about twice as much as the other two.

thanks John

I thought he was saying the side servos were adding aileron with elevator input.
I had too much coffee.

Yes, keep your eye on the ball. The servo movement is unimportant. Make sure there is no interactions between elevator and aileron at high, middle and low collective stick by watching for motion in the swash ball.

I found the GT5 no harder to setup than any other FBL system. It is prone to vibration disturbance on nitro models, but should work very well on the E325.

O.K. just so were on the same page because you have been there and understand it. But if I'm understanding correctly your saying that on the elevator stick input it's not important that the ailerons are moving together a little bit when I put in elevator up or down input?

That's what I thought you were talking about. When you put in a pure elevator move in with no aileron movement there should be no cross coupling of commands. IOW, no aileron motion. If that is the case I would look at the settings in the radio first to see if there is a mix active, then check the FBL controller settings.

Guys,
I still think we are talking past each other here.

To the OP, lauterbacher,
When you say that the "aileron" servos move together, do you mean that they both move up a little when the rear servo moves down? Does the rear servo rotate twice as much as the two side servos rotate when you give elevator input on the stick?

Is the swashplate staying level in the aileron axis when you give elevator stick input? Does the ball in the middle of the swash stay in the same place on the main shaft when you give elevator stick input?

That's correct. The aileron servos must move together, opposite to and in around half proportion to the elevator servo during elevator only input. Otherwise the swash ball would move when elevator is input, which would be an interaction. The swash plat should tilt around a stationary swash ball with only elevator input. Likewise, no change in swash ball should occur when only aileron is input. Again, the swash plate should tilt left or right around a stationary swash ball with aileron only input.
