thinking of replacing my jr 11x tx battery pack and I was trying to figure out which way to go.. should I go lipo or life and trying to stay on a budget.. I hear you have to watch lipo packs about causing damage to your radio.. I figure no better place then the great people here to give me some good info cause I don't want to damage my tx I love it and don't want to void my warranty

thanks for your time and input

Use the LiFe pack. Or solder some diodes to the positive lead of the LiPo pack. Overvoltage is bad for the radio.

I would replace with original replacement ,radio too costly to take a chance . I can fly weekends without charging . Weekends consist of many flights . If you don't short charge after every use or leave on wall charger too long battery will last longer than you think on a charge . You can charge at field if needed but let battery cycle like its designed to .Over 3 years on my 11X battery and still holds .I do the same with my 12X.

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

I gave thought to a lipo or life but in the end I went with a eneloop battery pack. I am getting much better flight time out of my tx and I don't have to worry about taking battery out or other worries from lithium cell packs.

I use the 9.6 2000mah pack in my 11x and you can still use the stock charger which I like to use at home.

Good guys and fast shipping.

Yep. Go with the Eneloop pack. Can even get the correct connector. Eneloops don't like more than about 500 mA on a peak charger ! Wallwart is fine - but it will take a while.

I replaced the NiCd pack in my DX8 with a LiPo pack and have had no problems whatsoever.

I do not leave the radio in a hot or cold car. I charge it with the included wall wart or hook it directly to 12 volts from the car battery.

I also have a JR11x, I would not hesitate to change to Lipo if a battery is recommended. My new DX18 has lipo out of the box. I trust Lipo more than NiCd any day.

Treat them good.

I'm with you 100%.
I charge my DX8, with a lipo, once every 2 or 3 weeks...need it or not.
I even use it on Phoenix...it just keeps going & going &...

Yea but, the dx8 was designed to use a lipo as well as a NiCd. It was not intended for the 11X to use a lipo.

To me its not worth the risk, what's so hard about putting the tx on a wall charger at the end of the day? I can dly all day and then some with my eneloop.

You can get a LiFe that drops right in. HK offers some for $15 and they work great.

I used a 3s Lipo from the first day I owned my 11x. While not recommended by jr I've ran that setup without issue's the entire time I've owned my 11x and before that I had a 3s Lipo in my 10x which I still use today and is going on 9 years using LiOn or Lipo in that transmitter. Another consideration, I personally hate Life packs. I don't Like the fact that in my newest transmitter (xg14) that full charge is 6.6v and the low voltage cut is 6.0V. It seems to that it just seems to go from safe to fly to cut off out of the blue. I was charging once a month or two on the 3s pack on 11x now I only got 2 weekends plus some setup before the low voltage cut off was beeping. Just my experiance's
