Mikado is likely less than 10% the size/value of Horizon. The chances of Mikado buying Horizon would be similar to winning the lottery.
Yep, kinda like little old America West Airlines now essentially buying American.

Yeah, the two guys I know that tried BD's, sold them and went back to Vbar almost immediately!

The BD flies nice, and the bailout is fantastic. Personally I didn't think it flew as well as Vbar (or Ikon, or Sk540, or even Robird), but it is unique with the bailout.

Hopefully we see a new distributor announced soon. I like Mikado's products and have flown Logos for years. If they had better availability it would be nice.

I thought someone had said the Vbar would be getting a bail out feature?

Did they give reasons why? I find it hard to believe that BD is that horrible of a controller, or that the Vbar is that superior of a controller, especially for 90% of the pilots out there.
I have not tried a Vbar, one year I may get lucky at IRCHA and win one, then I can bitch that it cost me $45.00 to upgrade it.

I like HC / BD for the bailout function. Speaking of upgrading, I have a BD3X that does not have the bailout on it, won it @ IRCHA, will cost $250 to send it in to have it upgraded from BD3X to BD3SX (with bailout). I will be doing it though, one prevented crash can cover the cost.

That would be nice. I still don't agree with their software upgrade policy, but if they added bailout I'd probably go back to Vbar. Hopefully if they do it will be a true bailout with climbing like the BD, and not just a level like Ikon.

The guys that didn't like the BD's said they just didn't feel like they had the control they did with a Vbar.
I will admit I'm interested in the BD also...mostly for the bailout. I'm just not sure it would do me any good - I mean I can't remember to hit TH when I need to...don't know why I'd remember bailout any better.

The BD works fine. I have a bunch of them and they have the best tail gyro of any FBL unit made. Support has been outstanding and software upgrades are free. What's not to love?

Tried it didn't care for it
I tried the BD in 2 of my helis. Never could get the connected feel that I had with Vbar. The bailout does work but it not really needed after you pass the beginner stage.
Not to mention the BD has no governor or vibration analyzer.

I have heard that Mikado is not going to put in the bailout mode. Thing is that is what I heard it may not be correct but I did hear that at IRCHA

Not trying to feed the off-topic trend, but I have set up and flown the BD. It is fine and if you want the bailout, it is THE one to have in my opinion and from my experience. However, if people tell you the set up, interface, etc is as good as the V-Bar, question their sanity. The V-Bar absolutely smokes it.

I would say the BD is about 85 to 90% on the flight characteristics. If you want the bailout, then it is probably worth that 10 to 15% difference. Keep in mind, I am the pickiest person I know of when it comes to the performance of the tail system... both mechanically and electronically. I constantly vary the piro rate throughout the flight and maneuvers. If it isn't 100%, I know and it is very obvious. The V-Bar is the only system I have found in the FBL world that makes it feel 100%.

As much time and money as I spend on my machines, I want the tail on my helicopter to be 100% every time. I don't dig the Ron Burgundy 60% of the time, it works every time

Where do you guys come from? V-Bar, if you use the internal gov you do have a bail-out. I'm using it on my E5, E6 and E7.

Not the same thing.

You're talking about Autorotation bailout = fast HS recovery.

Or are you being funny?

The bail out does work on the BD. For me, I found that I do better saving the heli myself rather than using the bail out.

Vbar is the gold standard that all other FBL systems are compared to. Guys say you should try (insert FBL controller here) it flys almost as good as a Vbar,

Yeah Steff we are talking the righting the heli back to upright bailout not the autorotation bailout. Some ppl call it captain rescue cause it saves the heli from the ground.
