1heliman,

I was thinking, there has been a few times that I turn on the quad and its blinking blue. Is this what you are talking about when you say it wont connect? I just switch it off then switch it back on then it blinks green and searches for the gps signal for about a min. Also I have always used the GoPro in the waterproof case, I thought that might of helped it? But last night I took it out and the quad still connected to gps even indoors. Now I am worried I will lose gps when flying, I got it pretty high yesterday with no problems, very cool pictures & video!

Dbeck,
I am in the green light safe mode when I loose lock. I wait until the quad locks on GPS them turn on the go pro. All is ok and still locked solid green at that point, when I hit the record button the green light flashes 3 times fast showing the GPS is lost. I turn off the record on the camera and it locks solid green again. This is telling me that the signal is lost when the camera is "writing" to the memory card. If you have not experenced any GPS loss yet, I wouldn't worry. I plan to film in blue stability mode anyway so I won't let the GPS lock issue bother me too much. Thanks for answering my posts, I appreciate it.

I have always had the camera on first, maybe that has something to do with it? Stability mode is better to film with... for me at least. In green mode (smart mode?) it tends to move around a little more - small movements... probably because its trying to lock itself in one place? I'm not sure, just what I have noticed on the few flights I have tested it

I have heard of issues with the Sandisk cards (though I don't use them), I use Sony and PNY Class 10 memory cards and have not had a problem

I will try a PNY or sony card and see what happens.

Dbeck: before I buy another card I'll try your idea of starting the camera and hitting the record button before I start the Quad and see what happens.

You guys rock! thanks for all the help.

DBeck,

Yes I have it working. I took a gopro waterproof case and lined the sides and back with foil tape from Home Depot. I left the front of the case clear with no foil. It has not lost GPS signal since. It has been very cold here for a while so I need to wait for a warm up. Last night was -9 degrees. No relief in sight until next wednesday. Thanks for checking up on me. I'll post a video when I get a chance. Still trying to learn the Go pro studio software. Thanks again. Now I want to investigate the FPV possibilities.
