Align DS 615 servo pins
I have Align DS 615 servos and two of the pins are bent.

Does anyone know where I can source replacements? The gears are all good just need the pins

TIA

This is a known problem with these servos. Only fix is to shell out for a new gear set!

I will not buy another set of 615's purely because of this problem.

The Align DS610's were far more robust servos and even handled 7.4v, Align seem to have downgraded their servos!

You could buy the gear sets for £17.50 but lets say 2 servos gear shafts bend every crash thats £35 per crash (or even a slight tip over it would seem!). If you bought a gear set to fix the servo and sold them for say £80, you could buy a set of BLS451's for £200 (less the £80 you got for the Align servos so £120 less the gear set you had to buy to fix them up = £102.50 spent) thats only 3 crashes worth in Align servo gears!

My point is, sell the Align servos and get a set of BLS451's, it will probably work out cheaper in the long run (plus the 451's will last much longer!) and the sacrificial gear in the 451's is only £6 and will probably survive more crashes than Aligns gear shafts do!

TBH I think im the only one to have complained about this problem so you may not have found anything in your research!

Edit: Found this over on RCHA: http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/align...ill-notchy.html

Align are going to turn alot of people off the 615's if they don't sell the pins seperatly soon! I very much doubt it will happen though.

Interesting! You should sell them on ebay! If I had a small sliding head CNC lathe I would have done the same!

May have a "free" solution...
Stay tuned...I may have a solution for those with this problem. If my solution works, I'll provide up to 3 pins for the price of a first-class stamp and envelope...next couple weeks will tell.

align ds615m servo pins
The pins used as shafts in the align DS615M servos are 1.55m in diameter or 0.062". You can get the 1.55mm stainless pins in a 15.8mm length from uxcell in China. Or, you can get 0.062" piano wire and cut an equivalent length pin from it. The center pin is 12.62mm long. I cut it a little longer, then trimmed it to length using the sanding disc on my Dremel. Once I got it to length, I rounded both ends. The piano wire is strong enough for normal operation and if you crash and bend it again, so what...make another. I found the piano wire sold in 36" lengths in lots of 3 for a couple of dollars...sure beats an entire gear set. Sometimes you do strip a gear and in that case, get a new gearset and save the new pin shaft for another time. I'm trying to get the pins from uxcell - which, by the way are sold as "dowel pins" - in 12.62mm length. Uxcell sells the 15.8mm long by 1.55mm diameter pins in lots of 100 for $4.99, free shipping on Amazon. As with most items from China, however, it takes a month or so to get them, so the piano wire is a good (short-term?) alternative.

Servo gearset alternative
So, I received my 1.55mm stainless dowel pins. I shortened one of them to 12.6mm from the mfr. supplied 15.8mm length and test fit into my servo...work like a champ! I also found the same pins available in the USA from Newegg, but they're twice the price of those from China...but you'd only have to wait a week instead of 30 days from China. Anyway, great alternative to having to buy a new servo or gearset...
