First Scale Heli Build
I was thinking of stuffing some of my Rex500 parts into a fuse. Any body have ideas of what a good first build might be? HeliArtist? who do you like for scale fuses.

I have a great shop, so I do not want a quick bolt together crap-o-matic. Wiring does not scare me off. I have a lot of build experience on the plane side of things.

Thanks

RC Aerodyne (http://www.scaleflying.com) has a lot of scale fuselages in various sizes and are a little less expensive.

Century also has good fuselages that will fit various mechanics.

I've never built a HeliArtist so I can't really comment on them.

There are lot's of others out there but most are more on the high end of the price scale and are probably not the best for a first scale build. I
recommend that you try something on the less expensive side to see if you really like it and want to pursue it further but be careful cause once the scale bug bites it's hard not to get addicted

I had a blast building a Rex 500 based Super Cobra. My build thread covered much of what I did. It wasn't cheap to do, but was the funnest project I've done. There are some really nice photos available of great looking birds to inspire your project. I was simply amazed how well the Align Super Cobra fuse worked too. Balance was perfect with a Thor 45C 6S2700 under the cockpit assembly. Flight performance was simply incredible using a Vbar.

The kit is based on using a torque tube edition 500. Comes with frames that relocate the boom to the lower position needed. I thought mine worked out as an ideal first scale build.

Best wishes on your project. My experience was that you get out of it what you put in it.

Call Dr.Tim. he's a member here and a vetran who has his own engineering company making fuses. He says his fuses fit together right! Check him out;

Thanks guys... I am really lurnin (sp) fast. I am enjoying reading all the good sites. I am not sure which direction to go. Warbird or civy, but I love them both.

One day, I will do a turbine heli. To this date, one of the best I have seen is a Maryland State Heli... a perfect copy of the old state helicopters. We just got new state police helicopters.

RC Aerodyne makes some beautiful pieces and they are high quality with a variety covering many sizes. I'm partial to the MD500's but pick your dream heli and dive in.
