actually I did learn a lot from the post of long ago, and now even more so. I knew friction of the belt was a cause and offered a solution in the way of an insulator. I'm not sure how much the belt rubs the boom inside or the ends but it may a little, enough to cause static.

To be able to harness e from the belt alone is a fun idea that's all, one of those "hobby" pursuits ya know. A small bl motor wired for charging is something of interest however. Power management is the real point of interest in all this. In the past static has fried a motor, 2 cheap esc's, broken several main and tail blade sets and skids, bent main and tail and feathering shafts and a few other details, indirectly by shutting off my gyro last year while the heli was off the ground after every repair without solving static discharge. Where static comes from and is being transmitted to the gyro I thought was dealt with then. To have the problem re-appear is disconcerting to say much, I can't trust the heli not to be busted up without the problem absolutely eliminated. Every angle, possibility, and or point of interest or speculative aspect must be aggressively exhausted should a larger heli be flown and be totaly static free. no room for error what-so-ever.

I have a new rx to gyro wire set to finish looming as you should see in the pic they are not plugged in and have no plugs yet either. The side frames actually resemble the side profile of a sleigh, where's the reindeer?
