high quality 550
I've been out of heli flying for a few years and a bit out of touch. I'm looking for a high quality 550. I've been told the logo is just about the best, but I just don't like the look !

Can anybody tell me other high quality 550's, I'm not talking Align.

I fly 'big air' acrobatics and very soft 3D

Thanks.

I would not overlook the new Blade 550x. It is surprisingly a very good quality 550 heli imho.

You can buy it as a kit (includes motor and blades), with CC 120hv esc (for only $100 more), or combo's (with or without esc).

I've been flying one of these for ~ 6 months now and am still loving it!

Cheers,

Once you fly a Logo, you'll want one. Then, you will sell off another machine in order to get a 2nd Logo.

That said, if durability is the most important quality on your list, then you might want to look at something else.

I will say that most 550 size helix are going to need quite a bit of repair if you put them in hard.

So it seems its the Logo or E5?

When you say durability, do you mean number of parts that break when crashing or how many parts wear out due to simply flying?

Many thanks for a great response :-)

Logos are great helis the only bad part is the plastic frames crack in most crashes and you have to pull most of the heli apart to change them, if you don't crash much they fly a long time with little to no maintenance. Can't go wrong with a logo or synergy, the trex 550 is a great choice if your looking for something cheaper

I have two Logo 400s that I've been crashing all summer (this is my first year flying) and haven't hurt a frame yet.
Mostly servo gears, a few main gears, some blades, couple of tail booms...nothinh major.
I love them

I have a few 550s although they are set up differently so it is not the fairest comparison. For a no-nonsense flight with no suprises, my stretched Align v2 has been my favorite for a few years now. Many, many flights without a hiccup, it is just always ready to fly as hard as you want. I also have a second Align 550, I like it so much.

As for quality, the e5 looks most impressive. Nice thick frames, great looking/performing head and runs 550s/95s out of the box. The whole kit feels like great quality and sitting next to my other 550s, it definately looks the "best".

Logo is great, although I have seen a few take some really bad crashes so mine makes me nervous everytime I fly it. I fly an older motor with short 520s at a lower headspeed so it performs much different from my other 550s. To be honest, once I crash it, the electronics will probably get stripped for a different heli unless it is a very light crash. To be fair, it is an older Logo 3d, not the latest version.

I don't have any experience with the Blade heli this size, but I did assemble a Blade 700x and I was very impressed. It was light years ahead of their previous micro/mini models.

This is such a hard one. I've only got money for one (not even one really, but you know what heli's are like!)

I like the quality of the Logo 550. I like the look of the E5. I like the price of the 550DFC.

I don't like the look of the Logo 550. I'm worried about cost and availability of the E5 parts. I'm a bit worried about the over all quality, durability in flight and quality of flight of the DFC.

over the years I've flown some dogs and also some really nice models, so I know what quality feels like. So with this in mind I feel my options come down to the Logo or E5. I don't like the look of the logo and I'm told side frames are a problem in a crash and can take way too long to change. The E5 frames are hugely expensive.

So basically, I don't know ???

I could just bailout and buy the DFC and save some money, but I'll always fell like I bought second best.

Yes, your right, but after 10 years of buying and selling new heli's every 2-3 months and costing me over £20,000, I'm kinda done !

I had my 3D+ for 2 years and I loved it, but I sold it 6 months ago as I hardly used it in the end.

I just want one very nice smallish electric to fly when the mood takes me

So I hope I get it right first time, otherwise, as you say, here we go again with watching money poor out my hands !!

I think I'm leaning towards the E5 ???
