Crashes BAD
First and foremost, I am NOT bashing Align in any way. I own their helis and I'm happy the way they perform.

I finally got up close and personal on the 150 and I am not impressed. First off, it is smaller than a 130x, so for all of you dumping your 130x.......Bad Move.

I saw both flying and crashing. The 150 crashed once and it was OVER. The tail motor came apart in two, the servo wires got chopped and the elevator servo popped off.

The 130x crashed at least 5-8 times before the main gear stripped.

I'm kind of disappointed and might just stay with my 130.

Yep, partly why I'm considering one.

Not too happy about the crash report...
but I'm still through with the 130.

Through with the 130X as well. In my two years in the hobby, this is the heli that caused me the most frustrations... The tail gears would just go lose without even a crash, causing loss of tail authority... Overall I spent more time working on it than flying it...

Bottom line, there does not seem to be a great product in that size category... And perhaps the best of all evils is the mCPX if you do not have high ambitions for 3D/aerobatics...

As far as I am concerned, bad weather = simulator, good weather = big helis (500 and above).

@wrongler I believe it hit inverted. I might reconsider once I fly someone else's.

So you saw ONE crash! How do you know it wasn't THE most unlucky/worst crash ever?

Fly over long grass if you don't want to repair a heli after crashing it!

There are plenty of helis this size for beginners if you are learning, this heli is not for beginners.
60% of the time, it works every time!

I don't mind repairing any heli, mine or someone else's. My point was for a small crash it did quite a bit of damage. As for learning, no. I like these size helis so I can fly them in small spaces and when our club does indoor demos for the town. My practice heli is a stretched Trex 550.

PS They won't allow us to bring grass into the school gymnasium. lol

AND

The person flying it is FAR from a beginner. Don't forget, even the pros crash.

Then general rule is fly over grass and hit throttle hold before impact. That much damage sounds hard and like it would have broken a BL up a bit.KDS Agile 7.2/5.5 Chase 360 - SkyHero Spyder/Spy/Little Spyder

Those small helis are not for beginners. They are way harder to fly than larger ones. They are cheaper to crash but the number of times a beginner crashes them adds up to the price of a new turbine Vario.

I feel we are moving backwards in this hobby.

Small helis definately not for beginners - but GREAT for up-ing your game. I've tried them all and I feel the mCPX BL is the best all around micro heli - and for the most part when it crashes, you pick it up and fly again.

I have a TRex 150 on the way - I'm hoping it's not as "crash" bad as previously posted.

Ditto! I was out of flying for 8 years or more, and when I finally jumped back in, I bought the "cheap" 130x. Well, it was fine for me to re-learn hovering and flying around and circles. I dumped it into our St Augustine grass several times with no damage, but then some serious wrecks when I progressed as a flier. So here I was trying to fix a micro heli with micro parts. I also had a 300x which I crashed a lot, and got sick of fixing. Threw it out recently after yet another crash and using the BeastX out of it.

The bottom line is that what's quoted above is right on. The little things ARE hard to fly since they are jittery and can get away from you fast. Not to mention that I can't fly the thing further away from me than 30 feet to see it! This is in my experience only, and ya'll may love 'em to death. I enjoyed hovering the 130x around and getting some skills back, but I was already experienced, just very rusty.

The 130 is very temperamental but if gone through correctly with some modifications it flies beautiful. I like many, had many problems at first until I approached each part of the helicopter and took care of its shortcomings. If you like to tinker and maintain these small flying machines then the 130X is for you.Its all earth!

I simply cannot believe that the 150 has crashed in a confined space against something hard and been damaged!

How can this be true?

It really does TAX my principles, that a modern day OEM supplier can retail a product that is NOT crash proof.

It's damn right disgracefull !!!

I have had enough of all this crashworthiness crap. All flying machines are built to FLY not crash. If they were built to withstand a crash they would look more like an Abrams tank than a air machine. Of course there is going to be crash damage when the thing meets the ground in ways that the builder did not intend. DUH.
I just wish that some of you guys would give a good FLIGHT report instead of a crash report. Who gives a rats a** how it crashes....it wasn't designed to crash it was designed to fly.
Ok I am done with the soap box. Some one else can have it now.

And noobs dont know enough to fine tune these things. Even us experienced pilots have our difficulties at times tweaking things. Its all trial and error but you need to know the basics first.

That was my point with the mCPX BL. Nothing to fiddle with. Just fly ...

The tail does oscillate slightly when hovering, but holds well when flying.

This is where I'm at... My 130x just breaks itself as I fly it, that's stupid. I can think of 1 or 2 crashes that were my fault, the rest are servos just failing mid-air, or tail gears just giving way and the heli spiraling down. I'm ready to have a micro heli that keeps freaking working, and I'll just take the blame for the crashes.

Is the 150 that? Dunno yet... Hope to see a few flying soon!
