Hi,

What heli?
Blade size?
RPM?

Is this the HC3 base model?
The HC3SX is different, it includes the rescue mode..

Start by dropping the agility to 10 and the initial responce to 3 or 2

Thats right, the base has no RIGID adjustments.

Can you adjust the head gain?
If you can, raise it 5% at the time until you see the head oscilate a little, then back it off 5%

Sorry if I sound like fishing, I never owned a Base and feel ill equipped giving you advise besides upgrade it to the Xtreeme.

hi Santiago,
thanks..i think..the agility adjustment is not found on the base.. and the gain is not an issue..heli is stable ,,just too fast when I put in stick unput..even at 1400rpm. jr 11x

the manual says..not to do adjustments in the tx.. dual rate would change values and affect the fbl? jr 11x

You do NOT use DR/EXPO while settng up the unit and check Travel e.g.
After the setup you change DR/EXPO go your preferences.
But: never use TX TRIM

Spy,

Once you are done with setup, the use of expo and/or dual rate is the correct way to tune the "feel" of the heli.

Lower dual rate for slower overall cyclic rate of rotation, and expo to make it softer off the stick's center.

Could be ground resonance or just your esc's gov finding it's set headspeed. I get a small tail kick initially when my gov spools up and it's fine after that. I tend to pop my heli off the ground as soon as possible so I do not get this kick while still on the ground.

Cheers,

Yeah, depends on which ESC you are running.

Kontronik gives a tail kick to indicate it has reached the requested rpm, you don't want to lift off before then.

I have a Kontronik esc and I prefer to have that little tail kick in the air, not on the ground. I do want to wait for it before throwing it around though. Maybe that's what you meant?

I think you are supposed to leave it on the ground at 0* pitch until it gives the tail kick, that is when the governed speed is set.
If you lift off before, you are changing the head speed before it is set, which may confuse it.
I don't think it hurts anything...you just might not be getting the actual headspeed you are requesting.

Sorry but I do not agree with this. Depending on the kontronik gov mode used the hs will depend on either the initial battery pack voltage or an rpm based on a pack initially used to set this. Lifting off before the gov settles to the selected mode/hs has no effect on this.

I've been lifting off before the tail kick for a lot of years now with kontronik gov'd escs and always get the headspeed I expect. Last thing I want is a tail kick while the heli's skids are still on the ground.

Same thing with YEG/YEP escs btw.

Cheers,
TomC

Yes it does depend on the mode and batt voltage, but it is looking at PWM when it settles out at the requested % - that's when it gives the tail kick, to let you know the gov is engaged.

I only know what the Kontronik experts say.
I'll stick to their recommendations until I find out different.

The tail kick is normally a simple issue you can get arround with a fraction of a second.
When on the ground the System has a lot of resonances and instabilities compared to after lift off.
So the gyro might drift a Little at the tail (or the trim is not Zero).
The gyro has no "Rücknahmerate" like in the head for the tail otherwise sideways flying and sideways Loops would not be possible.

So it puts up the integrals to get to a Position.
After lift off it jumps there or depending on the Settings makes a short wag.

To Bypass that just steer the tail before (at approx Zero pitch) the liftoff slightly right and left to that Point where the heli tries to turn.

The HC will then lift the heli from the bottom with the tail "glued" in its Position.....

i do not know if it is different with a kontronic, but i cant see a real reason for the kontronic to act so.
