I consider it to be a bit of a bargain myself, for a limited run only 50 made ever type of aircraft? I would have placed the order already had it not been bad timing.. I have spent a ton on my Diabolo and its Christmas time.. lol.. new baby! new baby means new helicopter right?? a limited edition really special helicopter..
Congrats MPV

For speed application there is a big difference between the TDR and Diabolo S, The head.

The Diabolo S head comes with a 10mm spindle, bigger hardware, bigger grips, tested at over 2700rpm with heavier blades.
The TDR uses an 8mm spindle.

The standard head on my Diabolo (8mm spindle, shown below) fitted with the special roller thrust bearings is good for 2400RPM all day long.

Looking forward to see this heli in real life!! My mate brought one and his intension is to have the fastest diabolo s on the planet and so I guarantee if this heli is designed to run at 2700RPM, well then he will set it up that way. So im pretty excited to see this machine. The Banshee's main shaft looks double the size if the TDR, assuming the diabolo s and banshee will have the same size main shaft

+2600RPM, yes.

Actually, the 10mm main shaft on the Diabolo is plenty strong, as strong or stronger as most 12mm hollow shafts out there.

You must remember, all of them have very short man shafts, so they don't have much distance between the bearings and the heads.

The need for a thicker spindle was due to the axial loads on the thrust bearings and the end bolts.
Minicopter pushed/tested the 8mm hardware until they either umbrella the thrust washers, or broke the spindle bolt. The blade weight used was much higher than standard, I "think" the loads reached were in excess of a Ton.

The new 10mm spindle and hardware is MUCH stronger and better suited for speed. I am sure it on par with the Banshee's.

I run a Scorpion in my G700.. it is the World Speed Record Limited Edition 4530-540 and it is a monster. I have a Pyro 700-45 in the Diabolo right now. The Xera is a limited edition, by that I mean there were only 10 made and I bought #7 off here. I feel its fitting it go into a limited run speed machine, I'll just run a bigger pinion. I am not exactly the target market for this aircraft, I just want one... lol.. so maybe that makes me the target market.Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

I saw they were available for pre-order. Awesome machine! I've been drooling over the regular Diabolo for quite a while, but the S, oh man. I'm curious to see how the new Speed TDR(for lack of a better name right now) compares to Diabolo S. Anybody know when the S is due out? I don't remember seeing on Peak.

On a side note, since it was discussed, I have an SFR2 fuse for my TDR that needs to be mounted. TDR airframe plus fuse is about $1750(new).

The S is a limited production, some are supposed to be delivered this month with the rest being delivered in February. I don't think Gerd has any plans of making more in the future.. but I would guess that would depend on the success of the ones he is making now.Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

The S model is not shown at Peak but you can still buy it from Chuck at Peakaircraft. Is the same as buying it from Minicopter, maybe easier as Chuck/Peak is the US dealer, and he takes cares of most of the communications regarding the transaction.

I was wrong it is there
