you guys have your panties in a bunch about JR, but JR!=HH. HH is their distributor in the U.S....and, if you read the thread about JRAmerica you could see the writing on the wall then.

JR ain't going anywhere. As for the rest of the HH line? *shrug*
if it ain't broke, break it.

So based upon that thread, it seems that Horizon Hobby will still service JR equipment through 2016? And after that? We send it back to Japan?Avant RC

A few weeks ago my ten year old, spilled hot custard over the dx6 whilst eating his spotted dick, and the thumb roller stopped working!!
I WAS NOT HAPPY.
I called up HH, and they wanted £4.35 for a replacement thumb roller switch and board.?
I TELL YOU, I WAS FUMING, it was only the fact they didnt charge me postage that kept me from totally loosing it.
I really believe that any company that produces top notch products, that the consumer want's, with a faultless service back up.
Should be doing it for free.
Are you kidding? You think that a company should repair your things for free when you dump food into it? How do you justify that position?

You must be kidding and I'm just not getting it.

Thank you for explaining that. I was wondering.

Now, for the love of God, could someone please explain where they got the nick name for Richard...

Oh, never mind...carry on mates.

On a more serious note, there's another possibility why they wanted an investor.
Horizon has been working on getting patents. Some listed below. The way they're crafted and been being re-enforced, it makes me wonder if perhaps they feel someone is stealing the technology they spent so much of their time and money developing for us.

Litigation can get quite expensive.

Just a little conjecture.

Whenever there's a investment group involved and their saying everything will stay the same it usually doesn't. I hope I'm wrong but I've got a bad feeling about this. Their above average customer service will more than likely suffer first.
They already cut out donations for events and reps hitting fly inns awhile ago.

Bob.
I just read a little of the patent apps and am not sure what they think they've invented. The idea for spread spectrum use in radio control was first explained to me >25 years ago and I understood the military was using it back then. Paul Beard was clever enough to adapt what I understand to be mostly cell phone technology to R/C, but I doubt that patenting what he has done will happen. Anyone can file a patent app, but only around 10% ever get approved and actually receive a patent. I'm not sure how selling HH would enter into that equation. The sale does seem sad to me also as I doubt that the new owners will maintain the same level of service as they historically have provided. Time will tell. steve.

Um...they,re granted patents. One is just an application but if you look at the file history, it has been given a notice of allowance. Apparently, the USPTO agrees they have developed something novel...and protected.Team POP Secret

Who cares what the patent office says? The only time a patent is really determined is when it is disputed in court. Even then, just because it wins that one dispute, there could be another coming along to blow it out of the water. Then what about international patent rights?

A patent is only as good as the money willing to back it and chase infringers.

In theory, it sounds good, but ask the guy who invented intermittent windshield wipers what he thinks of them, or rather ask his family as it drove him nuts and lead to his early demise.
