Looks like he was showboating his Piro turns,or had a problem with the tail control.Looks expensive but lucky!

It wasn't the tail rotor, it was due the roll angle and stall.

A-stars have a belt driven hydraulic pump on the exterior of the main transmission. If the belt breaks, you get that spinning, uncontrolled behavior. That's just speculation, but the left spin may also have been from a jammed tail rotor servo or linkage. French and Russian helicopters spin left when torque is applied, the rest of the world spins to the right with torque.
