I am lost
I am lost on what the numbers mean? I have a Align 450. The motor has the numbers Aligh brushless 430L What size batt would be best for good performance! And what size of motor would also work very good?

Can you post pictures of the heli? "Align 450" covers a lot of ground, a lot of years, and many, many different versions.

The 430L motor is a 3550 Kv motor (3550 RPM/volt) that was popular several years ago when the Align 450 had evolved up to about the point of being a 450 SE V2. Batteries in use at the time were generally 3S LiPo (11.1 volt nominal), of about 25C continuous discharge rating.

The Align 35 amp ESC was, and still is, a very good ESC to use with this motor.

By today's standards, the motor is a bit anemic, and not terribly efficient. Back in its heyday, it was THE motor to have in your 450.

Pictures of the heli you have would go a long way toward helping you with answering your questions.

The 430L was available in several Kv ratings. With some luck, yours will have a sticker on the bottom -- 3170, 3550, 2800...etc. I'm guessing yours is the 3550 Kv model.

3s 2200mah is the norm but you can go as low as 1800mah to feed that motor.

A good upgrade motor would be the Align 450MX 3400kv motor or the new Align 460MX 3200kv motor with a larger pinion (depending on your flying style), next up would be a Scorpion HK-2221-8 3595kv motor but they are more expensive than the Align motors.
60% of the time, it works every time!
