Almost two months ago I ordered lipos from Hobby King. A month later, I inquired and they blamed customs and told me to go find the batteries!

I tried using their tracking number, but turned up nothing. Now, almost two months after the order, I logged on to their "LIVE" chat. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to begin the chat, I typed in my issue. 15 minutes later the guy types in the same BULLSH*T response I got a month ago -- go check with the Postal service!!

These guys are absolute clowns when it comes to service. They have tried to expand too fast with too little staff and too little regard for customers in the US. I'd rather spend more money and buy from a service-oriented company (e.g. MaxAmps.com or almost any other battery seller).

I will NEVER, EVER, NEVER, EVER order a single product from Hobby King. Nor will I take a dime of their advertising money on RC FlightDeck or Who's Flying Where App. I've been in this business for 13 years and the hobby for nearly 40. These guys think they can buy their way into the hobby with Walmart prices and crap service. I'll gladly take my time and money elsewhere.

Don't sugar coat it man, say what you really mean - LOL.

I couldn't agree with you more. But unfortunately, there are no shortage of customers that are willing to put up with that kind of service in exchange for rock bottom prices and somewhat shady business practices.

Feel your pain. But I placed an order on 10/8 for 2 lipos at a very good price, and clearly understood it would take a long time. There was no tracking info at all for like 2 weeks. I finally got the package (shipped to my PO Box) on 10/29. I hope your experience w/ them is untypical, but I do not know.

This was only my 2nd order ever with HKing - the first one took a long time, but it did eventually arrive.

Still on hold
It's been 50 minutes now and I'm still on the same chat conversation with these idiots. Trying to tell me that it left Singapore on 10/9 and I should call my PO to see "if it might be there." HAHAHA If something arrives at my PO, I GET IT! (what a concept).

Time to call Visa...

They got pretty good service, IF you pony up a few extra bones for the better shipping. But I try to avoid them, and go through e-bay, or valuehobby.

It would have been an extra 99 bucks for "special" shipping.

I had the same issue a few times. Then I figured out that if you don't pay REAL CLOSE ATTENTION, you'll be ordering from the Hong Kong warehouse. Oila, you're paying out the wazoo for shipping and it takes 1-1/2 to 2 months.
Last week I made sure that my order was coming from the US wharehouse and with standard shipping, I got my batts in like 4 business days.
Only reason I tried them again is because I couldn't find anybody that had 6S 1300 ma packs for my new bird.

I tried to pick the US warehouse, but it wouldn't let me. I needed 4 5S 5,000maH packs for mine and figured I'd try their Zippy's. I've since read some reports that show they are no better than mediocre compared to other brands. I bought Hyperions in the end because I'm not going to risk an 8-foot scale heli to save a few bucks!

Oh and one more thing to watch out for is that PayPal won't intervene in a dispute if the purchase is more than 45 days. I happen to be a 13+ year customer so they made an exception (and because these guys string you along until the PayPal deadline expires).

They will be giving me a refund whether they like it or not.

I have issues with that too. That's why I said you really have to pay attention. You click on US Wharehouse and assume that's where it's coming from, but it's not always true. You have to look at the little flag when you actually go to load it in your cart. Worked for me (finally) on my last order.
I wouldn't trust their batts in anything like a nice scaler....don't blame you there!!!

I recently had a fairly good experience with them. I had ordered 4 6s 3000s and one was bad, real bad, as in would only register as 5s. It sat for a day over the 30 day period because the heli wasn't ready yet so I only discovered the problem on day 31. To my surprise hobby king took care of it anyway and are sending me another from the US warehouse. Granted it took longer than it should have to get it all sorted, but they did!

Figured I owe them a good review for that. Would have been better if the pack wasnt messed up, but at least they made it right.

I've ordered there before without much problem on the ehipping timing. The website isin't the friendliest at canceling items though.

good service for me.
I have ordered from both Hong Kong and from the US warehouse. No problems whatsoever. I have about 30 orders or so.

I never place an order for anything that is not in stock. They seem to have a problem with fulfilling those orders.

On the whole, I am satisfied with all the gear that I have bought from them. Since there was such a negative thread, I thought my opinion would show some balance. I know that others have had trouble with them, and I am careful when I order to get it right, so I do not need to change anything later.

The video says that their issues don't affect the US.

More to the point, my dissatisfaction does NOT stem from the shipping as much as it does from their inadequate customer service. I have spoken to Toby a few times and he's certainly a good guy. But their inadequacies are in the post-sale service area in my view. I don't expect to take an hour on an online chat because the guy is dealing with 20 other people simultaneously. Moreover, I don't like the stock, cut-and-paste answers I got several times from two different support avenues.

When I call just about any vendor in the US, I get someone who digs into the issue and solves it. Like I said, for the money difference, I'll go with a different vendor.

I remember when Banana Hobby went through this. I spoke with Pete and they have improved.

After waiting 2 weeks for my order to ship. I had to open a dispute with paypal to cancel.
I am done with Hobby King, anything you buy from them is a gamble they are not worth the 20$ you might save if they ever ship it.

spending time, paying attention

I don't buy a lot from them, But I have never had any problems in the last 3 years. Seems to be a glitch in their shipping of lipos. I think they will figure it out and get it fixed.
