Anybody know why my float power supply by itself when I turn it on it just clicks but doesn't kick on? I don't want to plug it up to my ground one in case it messed them both up

No idea, but I can tell you that it will just click if the resistor isn't done right.Nick Crego

Does it matter which way it is? I just noticed it's flipped around from the pic. I though all the connections were clean but may have to try and redo it again. Do u know a way to clean the solder off?

remove solder
you can use solder wick,it's braided copper wire with flux coating.you put it over the solder to be removed and put the solder gun tip on top it will wick into the braid.do not leave it on to long ,you must be quick.or you can use the turkey baste method they make an electronics version of a turkey like baste (much smaller scale)heat up the solder and suck it up,same thing you have to be fast.to much heat can damage circuits and the components

Thanks for sharing !

Hey guys I got my seconds supply and it's floated and ready to go.

My question now is since I will be charging 6s packs I have read about the buck/boost transition issues, my supplies are currently putting around 12.7-13v out each.

My Hyperion chargers can take 29v, should I leave it there or lower it down to 24v? I know the supply will drop in voltage once it has a load on it

Does y'all's supplies voltage bounce around a lot? I got mine and built with connectors and in series and it will go from 30v to 29 or 28 down to 26 and back up

Thanks!
Eury for posting about the dps1200!

I got my pair after my ol Ripmax died doing 2c (lol) charging.

These things are great!

Just posting to say thanks!

Just to add my 2-cents, I love these supplies too!

My only issue of sorts is that they get reasonably hot when under load. I have them in a Harbor Freight technician's case and do have open vents on the inlet and outlet sides of the power supplies, but I suspect there isn't enough air flow, or, I can't tell whether or not the supplys' fans are ramped up to their max.

I probably need to add 1-2 intake and exhaust fans to the case to help.

Otherwise, they're awesome and I keep trying to figure out the next best way to consolidate them, my PL6 or PL8, my DX9 TX and related adapters into the smallest, discreet looking case possible

Does anyone know if there has to be a resistor soldered across the two terminals, or can just a piece of wire be used?Logo 700, Specter 700, Goblin 700, Trex 700DFC, Gaui X7, Logo 690SX, Logo 600SX; Trex 470 Trex 500

Maybe if you did a really poor soldering job

The resistors are so cheap and easy to come by, I wouldn't try it.

Maybe one of the engineers here can tell you why.

Any EE with sure knowledge, please chime in. I will greatly appreciate it.

Also in the two unit configuration, do both DC boards need to be floated, or just one? If both are floated, what is the purpose for the AC ground blade? If only one is floated, what part of the ground does the other AC blade do?

Chet,

I have all but memorized it. That's why I am asking the questions.

OK, only the first unit needs the AC ground, BUT IT DOES NEED IT for safety!

You only float the boards on the subsequent units, not the first.

I don't know about using a wire instead of a resistor...not smart enough for that.

FWIW, I just finished setting up a pair, following the directions exactly. I left both AC grounds intact, and floated the no 2 unit board from the case. I used 1000 ohm resistors on each unit, and both units cranked right up and played.

I then soldered terminals for the DC output and connected them together in series. Again they both played well together, and with a no load condition had an output voltage of 24.8v. Under an 11a test charge load, the voltage read 24.5v.

So far, I haven't burned down the house.
