No choke on 990 carb
I have found out the 990 carb on the g240rc does not have a choke. I will be changing the air filter. Do I need a choke adapter like this or is this carb meant to be used without a choke?

You should be able to tune it so after you prime your pump and fill the carb, and have your Low End set closely, it will start, Now when it's cold, (snow on the ground), it might be trouble some, I have always flown with a volicity stack, I just stick my thumb in there for a couple of pulls, and it's off and running when it's cold outside!! It'll be even easier if you top start the motor.

Is there any issue installing the choke as could it fall/vibrate closed or interfere with air filter mounting?

Good point on top starting, it will be easier. I am also not a cold weather flyer.

OR
Choke it by closing the throttle plate almost all the way.

The DDM choke is very restrictive even when opened, I vote no choke. With the right procedure, they start easy without it.Tom

I bought the choke version of the velocity stack and have not needed it. However, I do use electric start. It also seems like using the throttle plate as a choke would be a good way to go.
