In my opinion (and we all have one) the Gaui parts are cheap! A brand new (second flight) tail pitch slider broke on me last week end. This is the third one to do so. Yes, I thought the new ones were not supposed to do that too. I am replacing it with an Align part. The screws are incredibly soft. Every time I remove hardware (1.5 button heads in particular) the heat gun must be used first, and at least 50% still need the Dremel to get them out. On the positive side, I love the way the NX4 flies. The fun factor is huge. At 2700 rpm's, it has the agility of an electric with the sound and smell of nitro. If it wasn't for this, it would have been long gone.

Gaui
I am almost done with my build..but scary to know the tail hub is still giving some folks issues. What is the Align tail part number you fellas are using? I minus well replace it now and not worry while the bird is in the air.

No tail issues here.
As a matter of fact, no issues at all.

Wayne.

I love the smell of nitro in the morning.

No issues here either, other than the clutch broke which I already posted some where on RR...

I love flying this bird. Hi quality IMHO (except the clutch).

I was spinning my clutch bell and noticed a wobble but the pinion stay true , that be part of the reason for clutch breakage.

Hard to describe my symptoms properly, but here goes. My NX4 has a metallic rattling sound in the engine/fan/clutch area, at any RPM, even at idle.

The clutch broke a couple months ago and I replaced the lining w/ the new clutch. Greased the one-way bearing also. When put back together, all was OK and I flew many times. The engine starts and runs just fine, but there's still this noise.

I have dropped the engine a 2nd time, and I cannot see anything loose or misaligned or anything whatsoever to explain the noise. My only thought at this point is that it's INSIDE the engine, although it is running perfectly with plenty of power.

I'm stumped. I'm just flying the heck out of it for now

Thank you.

P.S. I have had NO troubles with this heli other than than the clutch breaking way too early IMO. Still love this little thing, fun to fly!

The Metallic Rattling could be a number of different things.

Could be motor bearings or Baffle loose in the muffler

You might be onto something w/ the muffler. It's a Gaui. How can I check to see if the rattling is in the muffler? Take if off and shake it? Thank you!

You don't even have to take it off the model.

Just shake the model.

This is actually a good post. I have 4 electrics but every year I want a Nitro. I love my Gaui X5. It probably my favorite bird. With that said, I am really interested in the NX4 as well. Only downside that I can see is it being a 30 size(engine). Other then that, I still want one.

JC, any truth to this Nx5 ruhmor?

It's the Gaui muffler. Something came loose inside it definitely. Disappointing as it's brand new back in the spring. Anyway, I have stuck an old spare from a Raptor 30 on it for my next flights whenever the weather improves. Thank you for the suggestion!

Broken clutch again
This is my 2nd, after maybe 1 1/2 gallons. I did replace the liner also at the time.

Also, evidently the one-way bearing in the clutch was going too - it started spinning from the starter before it would finally catch and allow me to start. Too bad the stock Gaui clutch seems to be very low quality, as I love this heli.

I have seen mention of a Lynx clutch that fits - do you know anything about this? Would it be the 600N clutch?

Thank you.

I've had two broken clutches in almost 300 flights.
The second clutch broke 2 flights after a very hard crash that broke the clutch bell.
So I blame the crash for a weakend clutch.

Any impact with the ground can put a small fracture in the clutch.

I've had success with mine so far. QC was questionable in the head block. Had to run a drill bit for the main shaft to fit properly. Aside from that, it's been a favorite to fly.

But I've also owned Align, MA, Outrage and Synergy, All of them had their quirks.

I took my bell out spun it and sure enough it wobbles, now just imagine when the clutch push out and locks into the bell it will pull up and down and can break the clutch . I wonder if I can return it to Empire ?

I had the same problem also. Someone posted out there on how to fix the problem, i just cant remember who. the issue is where the pinion meets with the bell. I have tried it and works perfect. what needs to be done is to make sure that the bevel part on bell matches the pinion. its as simple as shaving the bell with an exacto knife.hope that make sense.
