You'll find it. Try and search in grids. Not Just random wandering.
Plan your hunt via google earth, and make a grid on paper to go by.

If someone you know has a quad and a camera, h
They can go above the trees and fly a pattern to seek the lost helicopter.

Im counting on my dog, she has an incredible nose and desire to search. I am googling it and its probably in a different area that I searched today.
Im thinking of maybe doing a spiral pattern out from my best guess, grids are good too but id need to buy some markers.

Spiral out, is just as good, long as you have a solid place to start, that you feel is a good point to begin. I'm sure your dog will help, they have um, well what we lack. Good Luck.

Well sure! don't-cha know ALL helicopters have their own scent??
Hopefully he was able to find something the helicopter was wearing before it disappered so the dog could hit on it! LOL

Joking aside, if you can get someone with a camera and quad that would be your best bet.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Fly your second heli (preferably, someone else's) into the same area of the ski the 1st one was, and hit TH.

Then, when you find that one, the 1st one should be right there.

Or will you lose 2 heli's? Might be better to fly it where you think you lost the first one and have someone go near where you are flying the second one the heli and work from there

No, if you can't find the second, then you go put a third in the same place and try again. Eventually the pile will be so large you won't be able to miss it!

Precisely.
And the bigger pile makes it easier for the dog to smell the rotting LiPos

Hope you are able to find your helicopter my friend . The best of luck to you and your heli. The last time I put a plane down I was at our club field and it still took me about 3-4 hours to find that entire plane and we thought we knew exactly where it had gone down at. mine had actually failed the wing rubber bands and the wing came off around 500 feet or so . we watched it go in but still took quite along time to find it I was almost ready to give up

wife says if i'm going to be an addict at least its to a heli

Like others have already mentioned, if you have a friend with a heli or quad, throw a camera on it (a smart phone with HD video would work too) and just fly a fairly high grid of the area. Then go home and watch it on a big screen. In conditions like you are describing, it is SOOOOOOOO easy to just walk by your heli and never see it from the side. However looking down into the crops from above, it will be far less obscured. Best to do the video flight at mid day as well to minimize shadows.
If you find it in the video, find some landmarks to help you pin point it on site.

Good luck!

Probably in top of a tree, and looks like a branch. Might be hard to spot.
