Smokey,
Post away, thats the whole reason I make these threads..That was a really good one..I'll only do a 1st gear burnout because the tires cost too much..I have a set of burn-offs but my buddy hasn't dropped them off yet..Once he does,im letting it rip through 2nd and 3rd lol..

That was a awesome burnout..

If you are doing 1st gear only burn outs you must still have 3.08-3.27 gears??

If in doubt lean it out . We don't do this to save money, we save money to do this

Yup,it has the stock 3.08 gear in it..Had a 5 speed and I put a C4 in it because I couldn't handle shifting anymore..
I knew I would loose low end but not as bad as it is..Im sure you know the C4 trans is a 3 speed?Taking off in 1st gear is like taking off in 2nd with the 5 speed, its a dog big time out of the hole..Ive had 75 plus FoxBody mustangs over the years and all were 5 speed so this is my first auto..Never been a auto guy so this is the first for me and I have no clue what gear to put in it..
Plans are to turn it into a track car but going with another roller..Car should be every bit of mid 11's on motor but not with this gear, would trap the 1/4 at the top of 2nd right now..

Rear Gear is dependant on whether you want to just race it or drive it on the street to. We had a 65 mustang fastback with a 302 and a c4 with 456 gears out back for just drag racing. Went 10.60 at 125. My 68 mustang will have a 302 with a c4 and 411 gears so I can still drive it on the street and race it without high rpm crusing on the street. Hope this info helps a little. Right now I'm racing my 13 mustang GT.

Not sure the ws6 will hang with a turbo 351. Do have a mustang with 17's that will give it a whirl also

rich afflerback,
Im kinda not sure on the gear right now..Its all going to depend on if im able to turn it into a 100% track car which is what I want.If I stuck with the 5 speed its a no brainer because thats all I ever had (5 speeds) other than my 73 Camaro..Autos are a whole different story because the trans, gear and converter have to match..If things go as planned,I wanna trap the 1/4 right around 5,600 RPM depending on if I change the cam..

Once I find a nice roller in the next few months, all im doing is the gear, frame ties,6pt cage and control arms with air bag in the right rear spring so it leaves stright..Had nitrous on a few cars but was too scared to use it,really thinking about it this time..

Thanks for the info on the gear..Do you remember what stall and max RPM of the cam you used?

Larry,
Ive always liked your car and so did guys at the club when you showed up a while back haha.Glad I got back into cars because so far,its been WAY,WAY cheaper than helis but miss them .
I love and miss my stick but too much stress on my back pushing the damn clutch in..The 73 camaro I had was the only auto in a built car I had but im not the one that did it..Really wanted to finish it and go to the track but sold it because family things come up..That car was every bit of low 11's easy, would blister the tires from a 35-40 mph roll but fuel starved on top end as it had a mechanical fuel pump that was going bad..Bought a brand new Holley blue for the carb and another for the nitrous, sold it before finishing everything..Planned on spraying it with 200,would of been fun haha..

Doing this with the Mustang just to have fun on the weekends with the family and friends, not getting into $$ races..Can't afford it anyways lol...I bought and paid for 2 different turbo setups and got screwed both times..Now im going to wait and run it on motor this year and maybe a bottle..Next year im getting the 351W,rebuilding the short block and putting my heads on it with a 70mm On3Performance turbo kit..This is the exact same build im going with but i'll have a fresh short block and better upper end..His last pass was a 9.80 spinning out of the hole..Already have everything priced and i'll have just under $3000.00 into the engine with full turbo kit..
