Thanks for the info. The only thing missing now is the TG firmware update.

Will it fly as it comes out, or does it have to be updated? Mine is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

I got the firmware installed yesterday. Anyone else using a remote satellite on their machine, if you have pics please share your setup?

I got mine built last night. It's really nice. Very simple and easy to build, took about 2 hours and that was with me stopping to give out candy and putting th driveshaft in backwards and having to take it back apart. I'll do the programming today and hopefully get a maiden in.

Biggest disappointment is there is no printed manual with it. That's a huge pet peeve of mine, for $800 it should have a manual. It's especially bad here, I've had a Rave 450 and Rave ENV, and loved getting the Encyclopedia Ravetannica (seriously, that's what it says on the cover). Those are the best manuals I've ever had, great quality paper and cover, beautiful color diagrams, incredibly clear. Granted, this is much simpler than a heli so it would be a lot smaller, but it would have been nice to have a printed manual.

Took about 2 hours to build, and another hour or 2 to program and get the wiring the way I want. My 4s packs haven't shown up yet, so I went out and tried it on a 3s 2200. It flies fine, albeit underpowered on the smaller packs. Test flight was in 8mph gusting to 36mph winds in my driveway. It had no issues flying in the wind, I"m looking forward to trying it on the correct packs and doing a trim flight.

Nice little quad, although there are some snags in the design that I found. The battery and ESC mounting really isn't resolved, there isn't a place to mount the ESC that holds it securely short of putting it under the radio tray. That works fine, however to get it there you have to disassemble the bottom body and landing gear to mount it. Where the instructions say there isn't enough room on that little rear tray for it. I suppose it could be tied between the rear metal tray area and the boom going forward, but that would leave the battery connector flopping over the gyros.

The battery is pretty much exactly the same. The pics in the manual show it spanning the front metal tray to the front of the carbon center. That's just not happening with any of the packs recommended for it. Even the flight videos and pics of Curtis's own Stingray show him using a pack that is just sitting on the front. I assume he did what I did and have it sitting on the front and then velcro around the boom heading back. It works, but it doesn't seem well resolved. Another small carbon tray clamped to the boom near the front would make a nice secure platform.

The only other issue I had is the ESC doesnt' smoothly start the motor. It stutters before it gets going. After about 5 seconds of that it worked fine. Pretty much exactly what you see on a castle with teh start power too low. It does it with both 3s and 4s packs.
In all, cool quad. Looking forward to flying it with the correct batteries and less wind.

On the mounting, we chose the lightest and simplest mounting. The ESC is supposed to overhang the metal center support in the back, but then velcro to the center boom. This gives it good support for even aggressive 3D. The battery connectors overhanging the TG Multi works well. It does not cause any radio issues.

On the battery, you set the front end of the battery on the flat part of the center support. Then the battery is kept from rocking side to side by strapping the battery down tight to the boom. You also put velcro on the boom that matches up to the battery on the other end to hold it from moving.

This is the way we have been flying them all along and they work well. But if you prefer more tray area there is room to insert another complete carbon radio tray. Just slide the tray to one end and insert the second one. With two of these you would have a tray that runs the full length of the center boom and gives all the support you want. The only negatives to that is extra cost and weight.

The slow start on the ESC is intentional. We have seen too many times with Helis where someone accidentally turns the machine on and hits themselves. This ESC starts very slow and pulses as a kind of warning and then spools up.

Eury,

On the Manual, the ultimate reason we did not include the manual is because once it is printed we cannot change it. And there end up being too many errors in the manual that comes with the kits making them more of a very nice paper weight.

For this machine we put the focus on still creating the great manual but also doing a lot of detailed build videos which we hope will help answer peoples questions. And since it is all online we can update them as needed for questions or mistakes that are found.

Gotta say, I really like it. Just moved things around as you suggested and since my 4s 3300s aren't in yet I put 2 rc car 2s 5000 hard packs in series for 4s. Obviously it was super heavy, but it flew great. It's a really unique feel. It controls like a quad, but stays in exactly the orientation I put it in, responds and picks up speed like a heli. Not enough room to do much beside fly some circuits and weave through the trees with it, but it's impressive how easy it is to maintain orientation.

Really looking forward to some of the add on modules for things like GPS.

I like it, good job!

Must be looking at something else. I see 3 450 tail booms, 4 tail rotor cases, 4 ENV tail rotor assemblies, 4 servos, 1 motor, 1 ESC, and 5 belts.

You might want to look again, because it's nothing like you describe. It's all common parts put together in a new way. It's a simple robust design.
