I've been searching & working on this for days! I've finally got the gyro to stop blinking & get to HH. In the Model Menu under GYRO RUD subsection I had to put the rate % @ "0" it's the only way the gyro goes into HH. The manual says default is @ 80% AM I doing something wrong here? & I don't know how to set up the "SF" switch to put the gyro into normal mode. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks.

If you are going to asign gyro control to a switch and not condition, under the GYRO menu, top left corner
select SW, the other option is COND.

You want SW.

Then select the switch that you want to use.

Also, you must select what type of gyro, options are NORM and GY, choose GY

Now for any position of the switch you can assign the mode:
AVCS or NORM

and then assign the % you like for each mode.

Simple as pie, right?

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured out about the COND & SW modes & I'm using COND to work with the NORM & IDLEUP1 & 2 SW and I know how to set the rates for each condition. BUT. HH on the GY401 (as indicated by the solid LED) only comes on when gain is @ "0" in ANY COND.

UPDATE: Even though the LED is solid on the GY401 the servo acts like it is still in normal mode?? ie: it still goes to center when the stick is let go.

SWITCH SELECTING (for Reference)
BTW, selecting the switches is not easy.

the number you'll see on the top right correspond to the setting number, you have 5 if you want to use them all.

For each setting number you need to assign a switch and a on-off positions.

For example, you can use SB, top position #1 on, them off midle and off down.

#2 same SB, top off, middle on, bottom off
#3 same SB, top off, middle off, bottom on

you can choose AVCS pr NORM for each setting #

I warn you, life is much easier if you leave it in Condition to begin with, and just change the mode from AVCS to NORM on the radio when you feel like switching modes to trim check the tail.

Go to the servo monitor page and check to see what is the output for channel 5,
If is zero, the gyro is turned off.
If the value goes positive, is AVCS HH
If the Value goes negative, then is in normal

ALSO make sure you have no subtrim on rudder, or rudder trim on the radio.
As soon as you move the stick the light will blink.
The light goes off altogeter when in normal mode.

AHA ! thanks for that! Channel 5 is indeed -95 so I guess I need to change that to +95 for HH. & that would be in the Reverse Menu I'd hazard to guess.

So channel 5 was set in Reverse to match the previous radio settings with the GY401 switch set in NOR. I changed the channel 5 in the TX to NORM from REV so I get +95 in the Linkage servo Menu . Do I also change the gyro SW from NOR to REV?

Not if you are using condition modes.

Once you select AVCS or NORM and the gyron acts accordingly, you dont have to change anything else but the % values.
