The only problem with getting a 600 or bigger first is that it IS going to crash and if you're on a $350 budget now,a $400 crash is not going to get you anywhere in the hobby but out of it.

A 600 is not a good first heli unless you can afford a couple $400 crashes every month or so.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Just got my Blade 450 3D repaired a couple hours ago.

It was a hard and brutal crash that cost me $15 to repair.
Tail boom, main shaft and canopy mount plus shipping.

No broken blades or anything.
It has Align FG blades that have been in four hard crashes.

These types of things have to be considered.

A 500 heli or bigger will never crash or even slightly tip over without busting the blades at minimum.

I somewhat agree (I will admit that have an aversion to sub 500 sized birds). However the 600's and bigger are more fun to fly. I have never had a $400 crash. I usually damage blades (try to pick up for $50-$80 new or used), main shafts $10+/-, feathering shaft $7 +/-, boom $10, links $20 (expensive compass dfc delrin links), skids $10+/- .... and this is for my 700 even when i was still new to to the hobby.
My crashes repairs mostly never go over $150 and i ALWAYS have crash parts on hand for the next one or two.

If you have not already done so, try to hook up with local heli pilots in your area. they have gone thru all the pains and can steer you in the right direction while providing on site guidance.

Another way to get around it is to keep wifey out of hobby buisness. just dont let it go outta control and loose your car, house or wife over helis
good luck

I fly 700 helis and you don't have to tell me what crashing them costs.

Finding used blades is iffy at best.
The other option is to buy cheap junk blades.

You almost HAVE to plan on $100 minimum for blades in case of the most minor incidents...Even a slight tip over will cost $100.

If your crash cost for a 700 is $150...you haven't really crashed it yet.

Fact of the matter is that a 700 crash can go $1000 easy.
The fact that it hasn't happened to you yet is pure luck.

One frame side for a 600 or 700 is $100

The $150 figure is a bare minimum number.

$350.00 Budget RTF HELI
Thanks Again GUYs for the INput - I am learning by the min. on how tuff it is to fly these THINGS & everyone is going to CRASH sooner or later. so you need to think of PRICE of parts to REPAIR and how easy it may or maynot be to GET them. I do not have a RADIO, which is a very important Part to be able to FLY! with that being said- BLADE 500 RTF for $399 (backorder) & BLADE 450 RTF for $320 are TOPS on my list for the MONEY right NOW !!

thanks you for your time

On the Blade 450 3D,the stock servos are kind of fragile.
No big deal but you eventually will upgrade them.

I replaced mine with Savox 0350

The tail gyro is not very good for 3D flying but that won't be an issue for a long time I suspect.

My tail gyro is still stock and it flies really well...it just wags the tail in fast sideways or backwards flight.

It's a great little heli for the price and crashes super cheap.

Good job on the going over budget thing!
Get what you want!
Everything is expensive to some extent but cooler when you just go for it.
