I have wanted a gasser for a long time now, and have an opportunity to get a kit for one and get started. For all you that own one, would you get another one?

...thats a hard one to answer...so I will answer based on two circumstances,

1.) If had had the money...no, I would buy a Whip gas or a Trex Convert...why?...you are limited to engine choices, basically one, the 20cc... and the G20 uses odd ball main blades of 640mm if you want the best performance...you can use 620s or even 600s but the collective gets really sluggish with the smaller blades. You can up the HS to try to offset this but then you are pushing the 20cc engine into the risky vibration/heat zones. Otherwise you need a modded engine if you want to get the most from the G20s airframe, and there are not many out there that mod the 20cc to its max. The Stock 20cc is good for sport and mild 3D...very mild.

2.) If I was on a budget, I would seriously consider the G30 instead of the G20, its still the cheapest gasser on the market and seems to have leveled off with the G20 in terms of popularity. Plus you have engine choices from high reving 231s to torque monster 30s....in either electronic ignition or magneto styles...there is even a shortened G30 called the OMG edition which uses the shorter G20 tail boom and 640mm mains for nitro like performance. But its still a Century and does not compare to manufacturers like MA in terms of quality...

Honestly If all you want to do is fly sport or Mild 3D the G20 or 30 can pull it off, but they tend to take alot of massaging to get any out of the box issues they may have. If you want 3D performance these gassers demand more disipline when it comes to tuning, setup and collective management.

NO .. I had one and was not impressed with the quality.
Always fixing and repairing it. I got a Raptor with the Helibug kit and absolutely love it.

It's not in the cards for me at the moment to get one any time soon anyway. Was hoping I would be able to, but not so for now.

YES - I have two and love them both, I would however change:
1) Swashplate to Quick UK or Align,
2) The tail rotor as above,
3) Boom supports to Quick UK,
Make it a FBL and then just fly, fly and fly.............

My gasser might not be light but it can fly better than I can fly it

I would rather get a pencil with a pop cicle stick and fly it! I had nothing but problems with mine from the second flight on. Century was completely helpless. Worst customer service in the industry. Save your money and go with Miniature Air. Even the old 1005's fly great and you can still get parts.

Take offs are optional, landings are mandatory!

+++FBL and changing to TT is probably the best thing you can do to get the most from the Radikals...FB and tail belt versions leave alot to be desired...and thats being nice.

Converting a Radikal to a FBL is even a bigger can of worms, over the flybarred head. The minute the engine goes rich. The vibes go up, making the FBL unit go nuts. Spending another $500 to convert it to a TT and FBL,is just bad advice.

I said get the most from the radikals....I meant that in terms of flight performance...not fix any vibration or tuning issues

I dont see the FBL unit going nuts in this vid...and its running a big ol modded zenoah at peak HP RPMS

Watch at YouTube

Ived said this many times before...its all about setup and engine tune....get those two things wrong even by a little bit and even the best quality, handmade heli will suck...

this is why you have pilots that love thier gassers...and those that hate everything about them (or a particular brand )

All is not forgotten for me getting the G20. I really really want one. How long does a tank of gas last while doing hard 3D like in the video. I'll most likely not be doing that kind of stuff, but just wondering.

In the video is a G30 running a Modded 29ei engine at over 2000 HS...IF he had a full tank of fuel (in the vid its about 1/3) expect it to get about 10 minutes....

So if I was to get myself a G20, run a conservative headspeed, and my smooth flying, I should be able to get 20 to 30 minute flights. I'm not a good enough pilot to do crazy fast 3D moves. I can get 12 minutes of flight using a 5000mah 6S pack in my swift nx, and still have a bit left in the pack.

..I have two Radikals...one of them is a bone stock setup with a 13T pinion, 620mm mains and the stock 20cc engine, FB, GV-1, GY401 and "black can" muffler...I have it set up to run at 1800 RPMs on the head...I get approx 17 minutes (but I don't run the fuel tank dry)...but I have never tried to extend that time...my guess for my setup is if I were to fill the tank to the top and run it till it was nearly empty and fly only very mild sport (no collective intensive moves) I'm fairly sure I could get an easy 20 minutes of flight time...

...If you were to do all that AND add an additional smaller fuel tank I see no reason why you couldn't get 30 minutes...but to be honest flying for anything more than 15 minutes is not for me...I need to take breaks.

1800 rpm, I run my swift at 1650. It may not have much pop, but it is nice and smooth, and I like it that way.

it's a give and take thing, with a HS of 1800 it would fly lighter, add heaver paddles and it would fly smooth and lighter

With the gearing I have in it, I don't have much overhead for more than 1700. I have time to do a little research and decide what I am going to do. This forum has always been a big help for me. I really appreciate everyone being so helpful.
