Sorry to tell you this, but I have switched hobbies, lol.

As some of you know, I have been on a 21/2 year quest to get back into shape and improve my overall health. Back then, I weighed way too much, had high cholesterol, diabetes. and needed two knee replacements. All due to my lazy, work too much, eat too much, lazy American lifestyle.

But, I loved flying RC heli's.

So, I have been working out and totally changed my eating habits. I have not been flying on the weekends as much and not at all during the week.

In secret, and hush, hush, I have been riding a bicycle and an elipticle, alot.

So much so that I have managed to lose a total of 85 pounds, I'm within 10 pounds of what I weighed in High School when I ran track and played baseball 24/7. Not sure if that weight is still possible, since I'm now 52, but I'll let nature decide.

I ride about 20 miles a day on a road bicycle, on Saturdays sometimes I do 55 miles. I'm a member of a riding club in Virginia Beach.

My high cholesterol/diabetes are no more, my knees feel 100% better. I got muscles!

So, I still enjoy flying RC heli's! I will continue to come out and fly every once in awhile. I have not attended any events this year because of this, "other hobby". Of course I am always still available to help anyone that I can.

If this is of concern to anyone or the Helidirect team, I understand.

I'm posting this on several forums/boards I belong to, so sorry if you get it more than once.

Great job man. Without your health you would not be able to enjoy anything but a dirt nap.
I too find myself being pulled in different directions. Between Work, family and the heli hobby it is sometimes hard to find time to exercise but i try to work out at least 3 times a week.

Good to hear. My job is quite physical, gives me the exercise I need but I have been wanting to get on my mountain bike more. Like a lot of people it is hard to work 60-70 hours a week, get all the man chores done, get my RC stuff done and fit anything else in between.

It can definately be done much quicker. just follow the easy steps below.
1. Tell your employer you need 3 months off focus on your health.
2. Kiss the wife and kid(s) goddbye and hop on a plane to the nearest Biggest Loser weight loss camp.
3. Work your ass off for three months eating 1200 calories a day and exercising for 7 hours of the day.
4. Hop back on the same plane back home.
5. Begin your new life as a sexy stud.

Well, I lost about 40lbs within the first 3 months just by starting to workout again and eating right. It was the last 45lbs that took forever, despite my best efforts. Sometimes, I would go 2 months and not lose an ounce. Sometimes, I would weigh myself and magically lose 5lbs.

I don't totally understand it.

The only thing I did (and still do), is workout 6 days a week and totally changed the way and what I eat. I initially worked out on a treadmill, then an elliptical, but it seemed that after awhile, no matter how much I worked out I couldn't lose more weight. So I had to keep changing my workouts to see continued progress.

Then, I started riding a bicycle........

Just a couple of miles a day when I started, but slowly increased my distance. The weight started to fall off again, if it didn't, I rode further and faster. I bought a new bike, had it fitted to me, its really a beautiful piece of engineering, it has disc brakes and a cycling computer.

Until now, I do 20 miles a day during the week and more on the weekend. If the weather is bad, I hook my bike up to a stationary trainer and watch TV while I ride and sweat.

I like it so much, I actually have to force myself to take one day a week off from it.

Now this is the really hard part, it took me a long while to adjust too and slowly work up too:

I eat no (that means none, zero) red meat, bread, SODA (sometimes a diet coke), sweets of any kind (except fruit), or FAST FOOD! I actually have found it hard to eat out at all, it makes me wanta cheat.

Its not that I don't wanta eat that stuff, I would love to be able to eat a double cheese burger and 2 large orders of fries! I struggle with it everyday. I also really miss eating bread!

But, old fashion oatmeal for breakfast with strawberries, an apple or orange for lunch, chicken breast or grilled salmon and salad with a bunch of veggies for dinner. Repeat.
