When pluging these ESC, make sure your outdoors. Sunday maiden flight on a Goblin 500, smoked and flames shot out of the ESC.

I though they fixed this problem!

What motor? Was everything new? Were you using the internal bec?

I had an ICE 100 catch fire a few weeks ago. I had that ESC for years and flew 4 different motors with it. The last motor I tried had an internal short caused by a hard crash. When I applied throttle, the ESC burst into flames immediately. It really sucks, but at least I was able to track down the source and I think that ESC would still be fine if I didn't try that motor after it was crashed. I still fly 2 other helis with ICE 100s and I am confident they will work fine after my great experience with my first ICE... besides the fire of course

Have you double/triple checked everything to see if there was a cause? Since this was the first flight I would look very close at how everything is wired.

Edited....Need more info. please. How many times was it powered on? Did it happen when you plugged it in or on spool up? Was it used with default settings?

Plugged it home in the morning after programming. Tested rotation and was all good.

Took to field and had it plug in to double check with a friend.
Changed throttle curves.
Took Heli to maiden, won't arm.unplugged
Changed radio setting back and it armed. Spool up 30% and shut down. Unplugged.

Change throttle end points plug in and Poof smoke and then flames. Try to unplug but was tight and flames in front of me. Friend shook Heli and flames when out. Pulled real hard and unplugged battery. The battery connector arc and welded. Tip is burnt off.

Heli never got off the ground or to full head speed .
