Electricity is Not Free
Don't forget, you are paying for the electricity to charge the batteries. For ever mahr you put into the battery, my guess is that you are wasting the same or more on the power supply, fan used and heat generated.
I have not calculated the cost.
I doubt you'd ever be able to detect it on your electric bill, though. Unless you were flying, like, 4 700-size E's 24 hours a day lol......

My space heater here at home probably drowns out the electricity I use recharging my batts, LiPos and deep cycles both.

Even Volt drivers that I know are having trouble seeing the increase in their electric bills and that's a gigantic LiIo thing they're recharging every night....

They over estimate my electric bill every month which means I over pay.

By the time those lazy SOBs finally come out to the country to take an actual reading of my meter, they have to refund me for being two months ahead of my bill

if you want to play on a level field, did you add the round trip cost of a trip to IRCHA to your fuel cost?if thats the only way to get that price on fuel then you need to include that. Most guys aren't/cant go to ircha.

as said also, you would have to charge 6s 5000 mah lipos at 5C all day to maybe notice a slight increase.

I'm not taking sides both are cool but level playing field and all

I give $35 a gallon for 30% and it costs me $30 in gas and over four hours of driving to go get it.lol....

People say I'm crazy to buy Turnigy lipos...they say they won't last as long as ones like Thunder Power.

Let's break it down...Shipping included,I pay $107 a pair for the 5000mA 6S packs.
That means that for them to be equal value to nitro they have to make it 14 cycles/charges.

Remember, for me to go buy 2 gallons of nitro,it costs me $100.

If my lipos last 150 cycles(I'm confident they will)the Thunder Power lipos would have to make it 600 cycles because they are right at 4 times the price.

600 cycles is not a reasonable expectation.

I will just use my cheap lipos and if one or two fail early, like 50-100 cycles,I will throw them out and buy new ones and be money ahead...big time.

Ernie,
Use the battery percentage meter that the PL6 has and you won't go wrong. No need to do the math, the PL6 does it for you. Its very accurate. Its a feature that alot of other chargers don't have.

I run my batteries down to 20-25% and have gotten excellent service life out of them. I have Gens Ace batteries with 270 cycles on them with IR's less than 2mohm/cell still going strong.

If you find you're dipping below 20% after you start flying harder, just back off on the flight time 30s at a time.

Come on guys.lol....

I'm not doing any math or trying to figure anything.

The displays are clear and the numbers I post are actual.

All I asked is if 3.7V is normal for a pack with 26% charge.

I appreciate all the input anyway.

Yep, perfectly normal. Last time I brought a LiPo down to 3.7V per cell, I put about 80% into it so that's pretty much spot on.

As for Tunigy LiPos, El Cheapo packs FTW! I still use my Align 6S pack from 3 years ago and those are the ultimate El Cheapo packs that cost more than they should. For the hexacopter, I'm using the super El Cheapos from ReadymadeRC and so far they're working fine. two of them in parallel gives 2 mohms or so IR and my Hyperions are at 1 mohm. Works for me....

No problem - right from Magnum Fuels Price Sheet:

$23 per 1.25gal shipped to your door at bulk fuel pricing.

That would bring my per flight fuel cost from $2.09 up to $2.67.

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to convince anyone that nitro is cheap - but it can be affordable if you LOOK for savings.

I guess buying lipos is like buying fuel in bulk, you don't notice till it's almost gone.

next years mission is to buy 4 cases of 30% for my 600N

I would rather fly this than any electric I own

Different strokes for different folks.
I'm so over having to mess with IC engines, I would definitely own an electric car if I had to work on it.

I don't think there would be much work to do on an electric car.
