I went over to the FBO to get pics of this Bell 407 I see come in all the time but never stays long enough for me to get over there and see it up close. Today I did and the pilot was a familiar face. Don flies rc helis and I usually run into him at the central Alabama heli fly-in up in Birminham Al.

Sound System
I read your post, then watched your vid...You said the last 2 minutes were the best...as I watched, I thought MAYBE the guy with that NOISEY airplane would have landed by then!!!

It is hard to beat the sound systems... Mine just came in for my latest project.. just adds so much to the overall "SCALE" appearance...

Great flying too...

You asked me to take some pics outside in the sunlight so you could see the details better so here you go.

I still need to finish detailing the bottom, cut the pilot doors, detail the door areas and the tail, build and mount the FLIR and searchlight. I think that's all anyway

I hit the road Monday but will come home for a week before I head out again so I will have a week to try and finish the detailing.

Thanks for the offer to paint it BTW but I don't think it will be done in time to take it to Florida with me

Roy it looks awsome very impressed with the detail so far! Are u still going to cut out the doors and make them functioning or just cut out the bottom of the pilot window to put in the bubble windows I sent u. Iknow how time casonsuming adding opening doors on a fuse thats made already sealed. This past week ive been working on a grupner A109 fuse that a long time friend was giving up on cause the mechanics for that fuse wouldn't work the way he wanted so he was going to thur it away and in stead told me if iI was going to do something with it that he would give it to me so being this fuse was made to fit a nitro mechanics and im planning on a 600 stretch Rex I told him ill take it. So all this week ive been working on adding working doors adding door jams and hinging the doors so when the mechanics are installed I have a way of installing the flight batteries without having to remove the top half of the fuse and cut it up and rebuild it to work around the rotor head.so the doors workout better then i excepted and hopely can have the rest of the body work this week so I can get it painted.im doing an ERA paint scheme for thisfuse.

Hey Rich
thanks! I'm trying
glad to hear yours went back together and flying much better. maybe when you get your blades tracked better the last little vibe will go away.

Edward, thanks for the compliments!
I want to cut the doors open but just don't know if I want to tackle that. I am leaning towards just cutting out the door to the large observation glass that I got from you.
But you make it look easy in cutting doors open
that Augusta is looking good already with the little additions you've done. I know it will be a beauty when you get done.

It's Sunday and I'm at work. stopped to eat lunch and check out the interweb LOL
My wife is not very happy at the moment especially with me leaving tomorrow on the road but I have to pay the bills

I'm looking forward to coming home and try to finish this thing. It won't get done in a week but I hope to put a dent in it.

Yeah rich those are retracts on board that 109 im trying to find some nice wheels and rubber tires to put on it then the plastic wheels with foam tires. And the truth is Roy the door weren't that hard to do. I used a hot knife to carefully cut the doors out, then after I sand the door jam and door litely to smooth out any roughness, I position the door back into place to make sure I have a nice thin line between the door and fuse. I start by taking strips of carbon fiber weave and glueing strips of them to make a door jam using some c/a intill the jam is coving the outer edge of the door from the inside. Once the jam is made then I apply heavy some epoxy resin on the carbon weave on the inside and then a thins layer in the door jam on the outside and then after let it cure for about 24/30 hours. When cured u can use a dremel to sand down carbon till u have the desired look of the door jam and useing the door to see how its fitment is you might find u need to use some hand files to sand down some of the resin in the door jam.but when ur finish it should have the door sitting flush with the fuselage and a thin gap of the door to the fuse.OH one more thing u do need to reinforce the door so its not to flimzy when open the door so for me I use pieces of styrene tubing on the inside of the door and when its glued to the door and it has the conture that the door sits flush when placed in the door jam I then epoxy the inside of the door over the styrene so when cured the door is really rigid and can handle being open and close muitliable time without fear of them breaking.

Thanks Scott
It just needs a little cleaning up and I hope to finish the details in the next week or two.
I'm on the road in Florida this week go home for one week then back here
for another week.
As soon as I can try to do those steps I will let you know. Once I make the mold I can make as many as I want.

Hey Emile wazzup
Glad to see you putting stick time on ur 407.
I'm in Florida working but Angie is in Miami seeing her dad. He's in ICU and not doing well.
Hope to see you soon and do some flying and building. 😃
