Doing a little work on my 407 tonight. I know Emile is having a bunch of fun at B'ham this weekend
Wish I could have gone but my son is heading for Afghanistan for tour #6 so he spent the day with Angie and me. He also dropped off his new motorcycle for me to use while he's gone.

We took out my Trex 600 and let him hover it around. You would have never known he's been away from helis for over 25 yrs. he's a natural.

Now back to work on the 407...

Lol 206 pilot! I hear you, but this being my first scale project I'm trying to keep it out of the dirt for at least a couple of days

I took it out this morning for my first ever scale flight. Wow can I just say out of control. I don't think my heart rate dipped below 170 until I got home and hooked the batteries up to the charger.

Heli143, tell your son to be same and have a good trip!

Copter Doctor, I feel the same way.

Well here is a short clip from todays flight. It's a little shaky from the camera being around my neck. Enjoy!

Not to ambitious this weekend. A couple of minor things on the 407. Nav light sheilds and belly covers
Digging around in the closet I found some old vintage models from Bell Helicopter. The 212 was presented to my Uncle when he retired from Bell, and the 214ST my father brought back from a demo flight he conducted in Colombia years ago. I was lucky enough to get to do some flying in a 214St years ago before my Dad retired. Man what a beast of a helicopter that was.

I've been shopping around for some Nav lights. I used the ones from RC Aerodyne for my 206 and they work/look pretty good. How about you, what are you going to use for your 407 ?

I used RCA also in my 206 the only thing I didnt like was that they were all clear lenses, but they worked would rather use something with a colored lens, but still looking around, in our 206"s we had alot of room on the outer fins, the 407 is tiny so they have to be small, let me know what u come up with, I'm using the big searchlight the full scale one im building is real big was just looking at pixs of it..

glad to see a successful flight Stew!!

Rich thanks for the offer to paint small items. will let you know.

Added some additional details to my 407.

added the inspection panels on both sides. one side is done the other is marked and ready to be finished.then clean them up a bit to finish them and make them look clean.
added the small peep holes on both sides. one is round and the other is rectangular.
I also noticed that the left side screen vents did not look right on this fuse. looking at the full scale pics I noticed the first screen vent is like an upside down L but the fuse has a square one so I modified that also. I put up before and after pics along with a pic of a ful size.

earlier I posted pics of the support panels which are located where the searchlight bolts onto the helo. I realized the right side one is located in the wrong spot, way too much to the front.
I relocated it to the correct spot and added a pic of what the real one looks like.

The black marks on the fuse are where the vent tubes and larger rivets go on the fuse and will do that later this week.

Thanks heli143! Your work looks good as well.

206 pilot, it should look like this. As you can tell I have a lot of work ahead of me.
