Last weekend I took the model to the field. I spooled up the heli and when it got going the model pyro'd on the ground and I wrecked the tail blades. It happened so quick there wasn't much that I could do other than to hit throttle hold. I'm not sure what happened since I went through the tail setup again in the Vbar software and set the end points and direction. It was almost like the tail did not have enough deflection to compensate or straighten out the model. The sliders range seemed fine. I should have a new set of blades tomorrow and will need to go through the setup again. Hopefully I can have the model in the air by the weekend. My heart dropped because I love this little 500

Sounds like it is reversed. Before you spooled it up was the tail correcting in the right direction? I put my fingers on the tail shaft between the boom and the slider, and push the heli's tail away from me and the slider will sqeeze my finger. If it goes away from my finger it needs to be reversed.

I was so excited to go flying I can't remember if I did check to see if it was going in the right direction. I assumed since I did not change the servo out the direction should be the same. That's what I get for assuming I will double check this.

if it goes that fast just as you get light on the skids, it was likely reversed. Just changing servos can do it too. I can say for certain going from a futaba bls 251 to Torq9188 or back again, you need to change the tail reverse setting in the vbar or else it's going backwards.

I just checked the servo movement and it seems fine. I didn't think there was a problem with the direction of travel since I did not change servos. I only upgraded blade holders and the slider. I did the test you suggested wrongler, I push the tail away from me and the slider does move towards me or pinch my fingers. I am at a loss. I have no idea what happened. I am going to run through the setup again now. I don't know why but FBL setup is my least favorite task even though it is pretty much spelled out for me using the Vbar setup software.

you flipped the grips. so yes, the slider is going the right way, but the blades themselves are not.

After fixing the grips I went flying yesterday and now of have a constant wag using the new tail assembly. Before it only occurred during certain maneuvers. Making gain adjustments just changes the frequency of the wag but doesn't get rid of it. I am going to try to sand the shaft as suggested.

Have you tried increasing the I-gain yet? That was the only way I got rid of mine.

I believe so. It is found in the advanced area of tail gain settings.. I've always used Pro so I don't know what isn't in the standard version.

The Vbar I am using is the GAUI version which costs more to upgrade but it looks like I may have to. I am first going to see if sanding the shaft fixed it and if not I guess I have no choice but to upgrade. Thx for the help

Do you have a 'graduation cap' in the upper right hand corner of the Tail rotor setup box?

Gaui branded VBars shouldn't cost any more to upgrade than standard minis. They did once, but it's the same now. Upgrade to pro, it's worth it.

After struggling with this I still have the tail wag. I upgraded to pro but I think there is something wrong with the GAUI Mini Vbar. If I swing the tail around on the bench the servo does not react the same way my 600 does when I perform the same action. Hopefully I can post a video so you gentlemen can have a look because something isn't right...
