OS 37 SZ-H. Drops in, same mounting holes. Put a good, large volume muffler on it, go fly. Don't use the stock Nexus muffler, your 37 will suffer.

Reasonable mufflers for OS 37:

This one ought to be good:

If you can find a muffler from a Toki 40, that would also do well.

And of course, the Hatori SAB-R-6 if you can find one.

I saw a discussion about muffler options for that engine. Will those mufflers work on the Nexus with its angled engine mount? Seems they would run into the skids or come in contact with the ground? Thanks

That could be a problem, the angled mount.

Are you just trying to resurrect a Nexus you own, or are you looking to get one going that you perhaps bought on Ebay or used from somewhere else?

The Nexus and OS 32 were actually a pretty good pair. I don't know that I'd spend a whole lot of money on a new motor for a heli that's pretty much dead-ended due to lack of parts.

Other options would be a Thunder Tiger 36 or 39, but those have their own problems when it comes to getting them to run correctly.

I want to bring an old favorite back to life. The engine in it is just not cooperating. Luckily, though, I have an OS 37 laying right here. I would swear I remember trying to make this engine fit and it seemed a couple mm's too long. I will try again. So, will the oiginal stock pipe literally hurt this engine or will it just inhibit some of its power? Would it work at all? Besides, os 32 parts arent easy to come by either. Thanks

If you run the stock muffler on the 37, it will not perform anywhere as well as it could. The stock muffler is too small and will not allow the motor to develop the power it is able to supply.

The stock muffler is way too restrictive.

You can always rebuild the 32. If the piston and cylinder are OK, simply put in a new ring, hone the cylinder lightly, and break it in. Bearings, rings, pistons, cylinders are all still available. You could even buy the matched ABN piston/cylinder set for that motor.

-----

Short of rebuilding the motor, you could tear it down and see if you can figure out what it needs to run well again. The carb may be messed up, or perhaps the o-rings on the needle and under the carb body have dried out and deteriorated.

The fuel line inside the tank may be rotten or bad, as can any other fuel line from the muffler pressure tap all the way through to the carb inlet nipple.

Thanks dkshema,
The 37 I had fit like a champ and the stock Thunder Tiger muffler used on a raptor 30 worked great. Now on to the Kyosho forum for another question.
