You can tell if you look close enough. It matters a lot to me. OCD is good when it comes to helis.

I have a 3D heli, I don't understand why it doesn't do 3D

Any used heli crashed or not,, bought from an unknown person to you I would take apart totally after purchase. Even if there were no crashes and only one flight or never flown ,I do not trust an unknown persons building abilities.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I must be lucky to have have been blessed to not have the OCD gene. I do like to take heli's apart.. Only because I want to know how they go together. I feel, for the most part, an RC heli can be inspected pretty thoroughly without disassembly. It really is not that complicated of a machine.

I would pull the head and tail apart check radial and thrust bearing ,,regrease all other bearings in the boom ,,you know the drill. No I wouldn't go so far as having a pile of parts left on the table!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

+1 on the head disassembly, and the tail too. This way you can be sure that it is put back together with loctite and grease where needed.
The rest of it, you can inspect reasonably.

I think it to be good practice to check all of the stuff on the heli before you put it in the air.

Trying not to put them in the dirt.

Always buy new is my new mind set.
We take a lot of risks buying used.
I recently got burned slightly on a deal.
It cost as much to repair as it did to buy, And in the end I could have walked into the LHS and saved a couple of bucks.

If it's NIB I might consider it for a rekit

spending time, paying attention

I went through quite a struggle with my first gasser a Min Air 1005 that was out of production. I had no idea what I was doing but Min Air still had parts for my used 1005. I was lucky my hobby shop was very familiar with Min Air also. I had to really go through this old bird to make her fly worthy including custom parts. It was worth it.

Everything has crashed or will.
I trust no one's assembly.......
Not even my own. lol
When I buy used, I always go through everything. I do not sell my helis but would hope that if I did the buyer would double-check my work. On some, I've found my own mistakes or oversights. Upgrades and maintenance are great times to find mistakes. My most common mistake in my early builds was too much thread lock. The other was no thread lock.

Always check everything. Only safe way. If something falls off or runs the wrong way, it's my bad.
