I purchased a 22 inch(length) toolbox that I want to use to house two power supplies and two charges. There is plenty of room in the box. I would like to place two 90 mm fans to move air through the box. How would I go about powering the fans? Should I just purchase two 12 volt fans and power them with a separate adapter? I looked at progressives site for a few ideas but I'd like to use the toolbox I already purchased. When I fly I use a generator to charge packs in between flights. I have been using a piece of plywood with a ps and charger strapped to it. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

TIA,
Andy

What is the output voltage of your power supplies?

When I built my box I purchased two 12-volt PC fans. Ran them and still run them on the 24 volt output of the power supply. They will run a lot faster (and probably shorter life) but for 9 bucks a piece I'll just replace them if that happens.

Perhaps run the fans in series off of 24 V.

You could always purchase a 24v to 12v DC-DC converter on eBay. Just make sure it's large enough to support the fans.

Nice Ron.

Here's mine.

I will be adding a USB charging port soon.

Mean Well RSP-1500-24 Power Supply, iCharger 4010 Duo. Charging at 40amps draws about 9.1 amps AC.

I also did a blog! There's two 12V 58amp computer server power supplies in series under the fake floor. The boxes on top serve to hold all my adaptors for different connectors.

Awesome . Where do you guys purchase the plexi to make the station floor? Does Home Depot or Lowes sell that type of raw material? I'm hoping to get to work on it tonight and do not want to mail order anything if possible. I went and picked up two computer fans(12v with blue leds) from Radio Shack on my lunch break yesterday. I think I am going to just add a power strip in the box and use a 12 volt ac adapter to power the fans. It will also allow me to power the power supplies. Peoples creativity always amazes me when it comes to rc.

Home Depot is where I got my plexi.
I used an old phone wall charger that has USB to power my fans. Those are usually 12v and a USB cord is cheap. Cut the end off, find the (+) and (-), wore the fans with it

The way I powered the two 12v fans with 24v is I wired the fans in series and tapped off the power supply output which is 27vdc. Fans have been running for over a year now without any issues

I got my deck from Interstate Plastics

The fans & grills were purchased at Performance PCs

Specs on this socket

USB: 2.0
Input Voltage: 12V-24V DC
Output Voltage: 5V DC +/- 5%
Max. Output Current: 2.1A DC
Cut Out Dimensions: 1-3/16" Dia.
FCC Part 15: Subpart B Compliant
