please if you have provide feedback i'm thinking about an 800 sized e heli, and it seems like Align went top notch on the machined especially with $185 cyclic servos, are there replacement gears for those servos I couldn't get an answer from HD
and how does it fly in comparison to the other 800 size machines like the 770 and the 800 extreme is there and significant drop off
please provide feedback

Well I can't give you a comparison to other 800 machines because I haven't flown any. But I just finished a 800pro and so far very happy. I can fly it slow and scale like OR I can bang it around like my 550. Amazing power. Not sure on the servo gears ether. I was thinking about a 770 before this 800 but the cost would have been quite a bit more. That being said this is the biggest model heli I ever flew but yeah, you wont be disappointed, it fly's great!

Gravity's a bitch ant it?

I have 3 800s but not the trex. It is a well built machine from what I have seen but it biggest downfall is being setup for 12s. Your stuck either flying it hard for 3 minutes or easy if you want any kind of flight time.

If you desire flexibility you need 14s on a 800 sized bird. My e820 gets 4+ minutes at 1950 flown hard on 14s 5000 packs. Then next flight I might slow it down to 1200rpm and get 7+ minutes.

The trex is a great starter 800 and if you can live with the 12s limitations it will be a solid heli.

I think you can make a 14S setup on 800 dfc pro. You will need to replace the ESC and motor. The batts should fit.

of course you can make it 14s but you have to replace those things which adds to the cost.

If align would sell an airframe + servos combo it would be better so you don't have to buy twice. Or just make a 14s optioned kit

I've had my Trekker since early last spring and have flown it quite a bit. I set my timer to 4:30 - with a pair of 5300's I usually land around the timer and if I've been flying at 1950HS I put back atound 4200. If I've been flying some 1750 and 1950 which I tend to do I'll put back about 3500 in the packs. This is running the 750MX 450KV stock motor and a CC160. This has mostly been with the 780mm blades. With the 810mm blades running at 1950 HS I did pull the packs down to 4600-4700 used. The 810's are a bit much for really throwing it around. great auto's though

The frame can support much larger packs. Align sells some 8500 packs for this airframe, intended for AP work.

At some point I want to try flying it on 8S as I like this heli at slightly slower HS and the weight savings would be interesting to fly.

What are the limitations with 12s?

60% of the time, it works every time!

What are the limitations with 12s?
Shorter flight times:

if you fly a 14s 5000, the equivalent 12s pack needs to be 5800mah which are not easy to get. (same mah available eliminates this negative, see exception)

Exception: If you fly 12s 5000 the equivalent 14s pack needs to be 4300, easier to get, flight time similar. 800s can take and fly well with 14s 5000 so why limit yourself.

Lower peak power:
160 amp 12s = 7104 watts
160 amp 14s = 8288 watts
Power available - power required = FUN. There is more fun available on 14s because power required doesn't go up that much when making the switch.

Increased heat:
Amps = heat
It takes x amount of watts to fly, 14s with the same weight/rpm will always be 14% less amps than 12s. If you are flying 12s 5000 vs 14s 5000 then the 14s is heavier but not 14% in power heavier.

lower battery cycle life:
Assuming the same flight time 12 vs 14s both 5000, eliminates the first negative but creates this one. After a 4 minute flight your 12s pack is 3.7 volts and your 12s packs are 3.8 volts(number doesn't matter and was pulled from thin air). Cycles go up exponentially based on resting voltage after a flight. so the 14% difference here may lead to a 100%+ longer cycle life of batteries. If you stop both 12s/14s at the same resting volts then this goes away and you get shorter flight times.

Worse performance on old batteries:
14s has better overhead and will hold headspeed better on those high cycle count lipos.

Remember, if you aren't really pushing it(Your flight times are 4 minutes plus on 12s) then all this become less of an issue. But if you are a hot dog mad 3dz piro flippin fool then 14s will always be exactly 14.28571% better

TLDR: 14s is 14% better because math
