In the setup mode everything seems to work fine but when exiting the setup mode the helicopter seems to have a mind of its own. The servos are twitching and the radio has no control over the servos.

Radio is a Futaba 14sg

This is not my setup, and I have not seen it, trying to help a guy over the phone.

Did he use S-BUS or a normal RX with each channel directly hooked up?

I've helped someone with configuring a 3GX with normal hookup to a 14SG and it works as expected. He programmed the TX, I did the 3GX part - no surprises.

Low voltage on the receiver pack can cause strange behavior.

The R7008SB Receiver has to be in mode B if its hooked up via SBus. Were you able to go through the DIR setup?

The battery was plugged into the battery port next to the S-Bus port.

What Is the R7008SB, is that part of the S-Bus? He said he was able to go through the entire setup and everything seems fine. When he exits the setup is when it begins acting weird.

I looked up the rx, If using S-Bus, does he need that RX in order for it to work? I only have experience with 3GX using sattelites, not Futaba.

What version software is installed, and how is power being supplied to the system?

If your power source is not adequate, the 3GX system will be quite unhappy and let you know about it.

I am not sure about the software, I will have to ask him. As for the battery power, he said he was hooking a 6 volt battery directly to the 3GX, the port right next to the S-Bus port. I have not heard back from him about what Rx he is using.

He has been on the phone with Align support, they were unable to help him over the phone. He sent the 3GX to them and they sent him a replacement. The new one is doing the same thing, he is sending it back to them as well. I have heard of alot of people not liking the 3GX but only for the flight characteristics not due to it not working at all, I thought.
I figure there has to be someone one here that has run into a problem of this sort. I asked him what battery he is using to power the 3GX, will let you know.

That's the Rx that comes with the 14sg. I remember I had to set it to mode B when using SBus. If your friend can show a video of the Tx inputs during DIR mode versus the Tx inputs during flight mode it can give me a better idea of what's going on.

Currently I dont believe the 3GX is in the helicopter, I think he has removed it to send it back to Align.

I have just asked him if he set the RX to B mode, have not heard back yet.

The battery he is using is a Nickel metal venom 6 volt for setup so the throttle wont be energized.
