I need a new charger for my 6S 3000mAh lipos. I want it to be able to charge all 4 of them in about an hour. Is Hyperion EOS 0730i NET3 Charger 30A 550W a good choice for this?

Good charger! That charger will charge 4x 6s 3000 packs in around 20 mins! You need to feed it at least 24v to get the full 550W out of it though. A PL8 will give you around the same power but at 12v input.

60% of the time, it works every time!

yes, great charger. I used one for a couple years and updated it to the latest software/firmware. You could charge all 4 packs in under an hour if you charged each one by itself (two at a time, one on each side). I could charge two of my 5300's in less than 15 minutes.

Hook it up to a computer and you'll get lots of nice graphs for your battery charging.

I sold it and bought the i308 Duo just 'cuz

The 0730 is single output. He just needs a balance board to parallel upto 6 packs together.

A member here turned me on to a GREAT place to buy.

I'm getting a Revolectrix PowerLab 6 1000W 40A charger from them for $175 which is way cheaper than any other site.

As a matter of fact,I'm getting a PowerLab 6 and a 24V 1100W power supply with a double Y power cord as a combo for $242.95 shipped.

I have a 200W charger now and on 12V it will only charge my 5000mA 6S packs at 3 amps.

Over an hour and a half per pack and it takes two to fly soooo.....

ah, right - still should be able to charge all 4 in less than 1 hr with a 24V power supply that can handle it (700W power supply would do it I think)

3300x4 = ~13AH. Charge at 30A (about 2.5C charge rate) and it should top off the packs in 1/2 hr or so set in fast charge mode.

Edited out the link to the site I suggested.

Mine hasn't shipped yet...Day 4 since the order.
I'll probably dispute the charge on my card this evening or tomorrow unless they decide to ship or reply to an email.

He answered all my emails before I paid...then stopped after payment.
The only reply so far is to at least acknowledge that they have received my order.

I emailed Monday,right before I ordered.
I asked when it would ship if I ordered and he said "Tuesday".

Thats odd, even if its a 24v input charger it should still give you 100W at 12v so you should be able to do 4 amps at least.

It will actually do 5 amps if I let the 12V battery charge a while first but that kind of defeats the purpose.

I have paralleled to 12V batteries now so it will do 5 amps all the way through.

With only one 12V,it shuts down for a low voltage input error.

I just wish they would ship my new charging rig I bought on Monday.

It's 6 hours away from me but we're at day 4 without it even being shipped.

I have the Hyperion EOS 0720i Super Duo Dual Li/NiMH/A123 Balancing Charger (7S/20A/500W)

I like it, but on the second one now - the USB port on the first one quit working, and a Google search suggests that this is a typical fault.

I charge 4 X 6S 5000 mAh batts simultaneously in around 30 mins. using two parallel boards.

I used to set my hyperion to charge to 95%, shaves 5-10 mins off the charge time! Loved that feature!

The PL6 and PL8 balance as they charge so that long spell at the end...trickle charging...isn't a real issue.

There is a final balance charge but it does it faster than any other charger I've done any research on.

I just connected my pl6 upto my pc and changed the cv phase to 1/3 instead of 1/10, that means the charge current only bleeds down to 3rd of the current your charging at. So if charging at 10 amp it'll finish at 3.33A instead of 1A and so on.

I only wanted to change that one thing, didn't need it otherwise and I borrowed it from a friend. There are lots of cool stuff you can play around with though but at the end of the day all I want it to do is charge li-po's quickly!

Me too...Just finished flying my heli at 5:00pm
Looked at the clock and decided there's no point in putting the lipos on charge because there's not enough daylight left to finish a charge.
