When updating a Futaba 14sg TX, do you have to redo all your models, or does the update not effect them?

Thanks

It does not effect your models. However, I would still back them up to your sd card.

Does this update allow the momentary switch to operate as throttle hold?

Do you work at Behr Dayton? Where do you fly?

PM reply if you want.

FUTABA SOFTWARE 14SG UPDATE
James,

You'll need 2 SD cards if you are going to back up the models on one.

The SD card used to do the update WILL GET FORMATED, AND ALL ITS DATA WILL BE DELETED.

This is the same procedure used for the Futaba 8FG.

From the update manual:
[Updating procedure]
1. SD card format
1. You will first want to format your SD card to the 14SG. If you are using an existing
SD card, any data previously saved to it will be deleted during the "format". We
suggest you either save this data on your computer or purchase a new card.
Get a hold of me. I'll come over and fry, I mean, update your 14SG in the confort of your home, (while dodging your 3 cute dogs)

BTW, I have an extra SD card.

Thanks Santiago for the correction, I thought about that afterwards. Good to see your on the money (no pun intended) I usually backup to the card and then plug the card into a PC and back it up there as well.

Thanks for the heads up Santiago. We'll have to get together for sure. I'm sure the dogs, especially Fred will enjoy seeing you. We must go flying soon.

McKrackin, I live just north of Dayton. The local club is WingMasters. I fly there sometimes with friends, and sometimes behind my house solo, or with a friend, or two.

I'm not sure about the update enabling the momentary switch to be used as TH.

The guys from Hobbico say that the momentary switch issue is supposed to be in the next update.

That's the only thing that keeps me off the 14SG.
The TH switch HAS to be in the right front or I'm lost.lol...

On my 8FG,every switch on the right is TH...just in case.lol...

Ernie
What 's the issue, or where can I read about it?
By momentary switch, are you refering to the toggle/springed switch?

Right...the springed switch.

You can't use it for throttle hold because the alternate feature doesn't work on it.

You pull the switch for throttle hold and it holds but when you take your finger off the switch, throttle hold is turned off and the heli is armed again.

Looks like it was fixed in an update a couple months ago.

Interesting, never thought of using it for TH.

For ages the toggle was pre assigned to trainer switch or engine kill switch; but ever hold, as one would use it to practice autos. You could never fly well while constantly having to pull on that switch.

Is always good to have options to all swtiches, but that is one I personally not use.

Today I still use the toggle it for training, and/or Rescue mode for the Demon 3SX.

James, I'll stop by whenever you are home and do the deed to your 14SG, or you can just trade with my awesome 8FG, LOL

You don't have to hold it now.
That's what they fixed.

Flick it once for throttle hold and then flick it again to turn throttle hold off.

That's the way the 8FG works and now the 14SG does too.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Ahh, cool. Kinda like a clapper, clap once for hold, clap again for throttle on.
I still could not use it as much as I shake. I would hit it 5 times and lose track of what I did as I'm crashing.

And I'm glad we don't use clappers for throttle hold!
The guys at the field could really mess you up

all jokes aside,

Actually Ernie, your explanation might have save one of my friends who cannot fit his finger between the top switches to use throttle hold on his 8FG. The toggle is a great alternative.
