Big difference in flight characteristics between 520s and 550s that is why the little guys seem to have "more" performance.....less mass to move....moves quicker. But like I said, roll with what makes you happy....

Yes, at only about 8% less disk area than the Logo and 25% less weight, I'd say hard to compare the flight characteristics for sure.
Sitting side by side they'd all look pretty close in size though.

I have a 550 (custom build) that was in that weight range and it flies very quick and efficient. Doesn't take a thwack like my Trex though.

Have you looked at the HD CELL 500? It's not available as of yet but looks very interesting.

yeah the HD cell looks different, problem is don't know parts cost and its smaller and heavier than the e6. smaller than a goblin 500 and only slightly lighter, plus more expensive than both

ok so after a TON of research and looking at threads all day instead of working lol, I have pretty much decided I am going to stick with logo cause they are just so awesome.. looked at several helis including the new trex 600 dfc, even a whiplash gasser... so now have to decide between a logo 480 xxtreme, 550sx...hmmm

Research is fun!

So much depends on preference. Bar none, the highest performance heli in this class I've flown/owned is the Goblin 500. Simply the fiercest flying machine I've ever built and flown. Down side is definitely the crash survivability and corresponding cost. I had one crash, but it was enough I didn't come back for more. But when I flew it, I was astonished how much gusto it had and handled quite well. Simply ballistic compared to anything I've flown. It always had collective to spare when pushing it around. Easily visible, and was fast and tracked superbly. I think it also has a spectacular tail that helps make it handle all the power and aggressive flying. No shortcomings that I found. Makes a lot from a 6S4400 pack too.

I still love my Compass helis overall better, but not quite in the size class you're seeking.

I don't blame you for sticking with Logo though. Terrific helis. Maybe I will own one some day too...LOL

yeah its hard to decide on one also lol... I have been looking at the new trex 600 pro with the bigger motor and frame supports and that is quite a bit less than a logo for a bigger heli, and align has been stepping up so not sure if I really benefit from a logo

Sorry for hijacking your thread...

Did you like the Goblin 500 more than a Logo? I own both the 500 and 600 and I am curious about the Goblin.

I like the look of the goblin but after doing research there seems to be a lot of failures with the goblin, may be user or qc but there are a lot.. plus the drive train really cuts down on flight time cause its way to overbuilt IMO..

plus most people I talked to or saw post liked another heli like the x5 or mikado more than the goblin

Thank you. I have both the 500 and 600 and they are both awesome. I love how agile the 500 is and I think I like the way it flies better than the 600 even though the 600 is incredible

You're missing out if you don't look at the DT520. Put a few more flights on mine today, and it is great, and inexpensive. Fantastic performance and design.

There are a lot of contenders in this class recently. I agree, it IS difficult to decide which one being the bare kits are all about the same cost. These 3 will fit 470-500mm blades and are all excellent choices.

Logo 480
HD 500
Goblin 500
Gaui X4 II (460's)

I thought you were asking about flight time?

Flight time is more a matter of how you set your head speed. A lot of guys just turn the head speed up to max or near max and you really don't need that much head speed. I have a trex 550 and get 8 minutes and am still above the 80% point on the battery. I am not using a governor so i don't know my actual head speed but my Throttle curve is around 70-75%. Also the battery can make a difference. Not all 5000 mAh batteries have the same capacity. I have some Turnigy Nanotechs and some Eco Power's from Amain. They have the same ratings but the Eco Power ones are noticeably bigger and have more actual capacity than the Nanotechs.

You can also improve flight time by changing your pinion (smaller) which also lowers the head speed.

Use this rule of thumb: Use only as much headspeed as you need for the flying you do. Keeping lowering it until you obviously don't have enough power and go up a little from there. Lowering the headspeed will generally slow down your models response time and make it easier to handle.

I was only getting 5 minutes until I lowered my head speed. I can still flip, loop, roll, etc with no problem at the lower setting.

ok guys so my biggest problem with the logo 550 was I just sold one to my friend which he now loves and the 550 is pretty close to it.. so thinking now may go with a 600 on 12s to change it up some and get the stick packs so my brain thinks their one pack haha

think I may pull the trigger on a 12s 600sx

Thanks for all the info on the other helis but I think im a mikado groupie now

I just went through the same dilemma. I went with the E5 because it gives me the option of a 12s 600 if ever I decide to go that way. I have a Rush 750 and really like the performance of the 12s but hate the fact I have 2-6s 5000 mah batts just to run the motor for 5 mins.
I also have a Trex 550 and tend to use it more because its easier to grab-n-go. I was in the market cause I wanted a better quality 550 size machine.
With a KDE power plant I don't even know how heavy my E5 is all I know is I don't suffer from lack of power
I just maidened it the other day so I'm not sure about flight time.
The problem with Logo is availability. Readyheli is the only source I know of and they seem to be out of stock all the time. That's what drove me away from Logo and Vbar.

People complain about flight times, but don't do anything about it. There's no reason to be getting 5 minutes on a 12s 5000 setup in a 700. I've always set mine up to get at least 7 minutes with a good buffer. It's all gearing and setup. I fly my 700 V3 for 7 minutes and put 3300 back I the packs so I could go quite a bit longer, and that's with an 800mx.

This has become a huge topic so I thought I'd add 2 cents

Same boat here, except my biggie 12s is a Trex 700e. LOVE IT, but it sure is easier to quickly charge 2 batts and get 2 7-8 min flights with the 550e. Gens Ace 5300 mah batts.

550e headspeed: I'm about 75% throttle for the 3d flips/rolls which is not screaming (as I have seen some other guys flying) but it is VERY responsive and still beyond my abilities in performance.

The 700: I get 5-6 mins (75% throttle), HOWEVER I just installed the KDE adjustable motor mount which I'm pretty sure will decrease the binding that it still has because Align in their wisdom decided to make one of their top-of-the-line helis non-adjustable gear mesh! Go figure. My motor and ESC were getting way too hot, and this has to be cutting down my flight time. Have not tested yet due to weather.
