Some of us swear by fuel magnets and some swear at them. I used them for a period of time and found myself in the latter camp. I've gone back to OS bubbleless clunks and a header tank. They never gave me trouble before my foray into fuel magnets and they've served me well after coming back to them.

I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. Just relaying my experience.

Cheers,

Bill

In my experience, I've not ever heard of an advantage of the fuel magnet concept over a header tank setup. I don't mind the details to properly install the header tank and good plumming. It's part of the fun to me. I too have flown both without issues. Kept my FM submersed always. Still, it does add risk of the element clogging flow if it breaks down. But, all I read of the FM users who liked them saying they hadn't had problems. To me, that is not a statement of their value, unless the trouble-free performance resolved a problem with a header tank install on the same model. My X50 seems to have a very good factory designed header tank install which has been reported to work well.

That's funny, datidun. Last time I watched Bert and Bobby talking fuel systems and tuning, Bert was promoting Fuel Magnet.

I decided on the following:

1. Stock TT header tank
2. Quick UK tank seals
3. Hayes clunk lines
4. Lynx Medium fuel tubing outside the tanks (plain clear color)
5. HT sintered brass clunks (barbed fitting)
6. Stock YS check/filter between engine and main tank vent
7. TT in line filter after header tank
8. Tetra three way valve after the header tank filter for fueling point. Shuts off fuel to the carb while fueling, without punching fuel lines
9. Tetra three way valve between YS check valve and main tank vent. Open to vent when filling.

Am I crazy?
