Hi guys I just got a eflite celectra charger, this is the first charger I have gotten that let's you choose the charging amperage, and I'm not sure what I should be entering for my packs?
for example if I have a 6.6v 1700mah 2s life pack, what's the max amps I can charge it at? Is there some sort of scale for charging LiPos and life batteries? Thanks so much I don't want to fry any batteries

Will that charger do LiFe packs?

The charger has to be specifically for LiFe batteries.
A lipo charger will over charge them and burn them up.

Lipo tops out at 4.2 volts per cell.
LiFe tops out at 3.6 volts per cell.

Make certain your charger has a LiFe setting before using it for a LiFe battery.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Batteries usually have a discharge rate and charge rate listed on them expressed as a "C" rating. The "C" rating is a multiple of the pack capacity. Example using your 3S 2000mah pack, 1C rate ==2000mah and 10C rate = 20,000mah. If no charge rate is listed then you are usually safe with a 1C charge rate so in you example 3S 2000mah battery a 2 amp charge rate is ok. 2000mah= 2 amps

LiFe, 2-2.5 C is safe. But, with lipos. Like eddiscus said, 1C or what the charge rate says on the lipos.

Most of my 4400 and 5000mah Lipo flight packs get charged at 2C at the field and 1C when at home. On rare occasions i have used a 3C charge rate on those rated at that rate or above.
