I had a chance today to take my Lama out for its maiden flight. Other than just a few ajustments to the Helicommand it flew really well. I aquired this heli from a gentleman on this site about a month ago and bought the turbine about a week later. Now I have to start with all the scale details. I already painted the side panels and cut all the grafics with my vinyl cutter. I will post more pictures as I go along.

Thanks Gonzalo. I happened across your website with your detailed build pictures and have been inspired to use some of your great ideas. I am going with the Air Walser scheme because its simple and shows up great in the air.

I have added a few scale details this week. I built the electrical box by the turbine, turned he magnetic door hold hold open magnets, and also built the mirror for the front. I am really enjoying working on thie heli. I like all the scale parts that I get to fabricate. I also took it out today and put 4 flights on it. It has to be one of the smoothest flying helis I have flown. I will post more pictures as I go.

This week I tore the entire helicopter down to strip the powder coat off the entire structure. It was a huge undertaking using a paint stripper and a wire brush but I managed to get it all off. I am going to try and paint it this weekend weather permitting. I will take pictures of the process as I go along.

I sent my instrument panel to Alex at iflytailies.com to work his magic on it and this is the result. I have been making some progress on the build but it has been slow because of work and the holidays.

I have been working on the Lama whenever I get the chance. I have been working on the fuel system and ordered the system from Jersey Modelers. As I was looking at the fill valve I didnt like how big it was, and could'nt decide where to put it. I started looking at the prined parts I got from Gonzalo and decided to cut the scale filler valve apart and insert the JM fill valve into it. I think it turned out nice, and it keeps the scale look.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have been working on sorting out the electronics under the floor. I have it to a point where it's not just a rats nest of wires. I will have 2, TP 2S 5000mAh batteries for the flight controls, 1, Venom 2S 8000mAh battery for the turbine, and 1, TP 2S 5000mAh battery for the lighting system. I have also got all the rivets done on the canopy and am hoping to start painting soon.

I have most of the painting done and now I finally started the final assembly. I need to cut a couple more graphics for the main body but I'm hoping to have it all together this weekend. I'll post pictures as I go.

Almost there. I finished cutting and applying the graphics. I just have to paint the tail fins and the shocks that go on the landing gear struts and get them installed. Then need to go over the Helicommand setup, wait for the weather to get above freezing, and go fly.

John, thanks for the kind words. I wasnt a big fan of the Lama myself until I bought this one. It was for sale in the forums at a price I could'nt pass up. Now after building and flying it I have to say it is an awsome heli. I got the rest of the painting done this weekend, now I just need to finish assembly. I just wish the weather would warm up a bit around here

I guess we all have different perceptions.

I have literally drooled over every Lama I've ever seen.
Especially the turbines!

I just love the simplistic design and the ladder type (or whatever you call it) tail boom.

Beautiful work Dennis.

Chet
