I am so happy with the 600 SX I traded my NX4 for a 500. I'm going to take the model out for its first maiden flight this afternoon. Would anyone know what year this model happens to be?

TIA,
Andy

The 500 has been virtually unchanged till this year (SX version now). No worries, it will be awesome!

That looks awesome, I have just got from the field with mine, the sun was going down on my last flight and the light on the blades and canopy was just great the heli rocks in flight and I am still buzzing from my last flight. The vbar rocks and the heli is really smooth.

Hope yours goes great I'm sure you'll love it.

Good luck

Thx guys for the information. I did not get to go flying because of a family emergency .

The model has a Hyperion motor (HS4025 1100) that I am dying to try out as well. I am also using the GAUI Mini-Vbar which is just the Mini V rebranded(I think). I'd like to figure out more about adjusting the Vbar since on my 600SX I am just using the default settings other than pitch settings etc. I wish it had a quick roll rate.I'm not sure if it is due to the size of the model and I may be expecting it to roll like a small heli. Will I notice any big differences by using the 'Vivid' setting available on the main screen of the express software?

Vivid and precise are all up to preference. Just try it one way and slide the slider to the opposite side and fly again and then you will be able to feel the difference. Do not worry, any slider adjustment on the front screen will never cause you to crash so you can move them all to see where it flies best. Don't forget to turn the optimizers off so they don't make changes while you fly......Ron

I finally got to maiden the 500 last night using the Vivid setting. I love the feel of it. On my third battery pack I was about 100 feet up and something popped. I'm guessing my esc fried. I was able to auto the model down with no damage whatsoever That was my first auto and I was so happy to be able to get the model down without smashing it to bits since I just got the thing in the air. I put an older Castle Talon in the model which probably wasn't the best idea even though I've never had any issues with it before. I have a brand new Jive 80 that is defective which I need to send back this week. Does anyone have any suggestion for an esc? I was hoping to get one with a bec since I do not want any extra weight that comes with using a receiver pack. I'm using a Castle Edge on my 600SX and the setup was super easy and the governor has worked well so far.

I am using a jive 100lv good bec and has worked flawlessly for me. The price makes me pucker up a bit but it does what it's supposed to do and really smoothly. The gov is bang on as well.

Good luck

I just checked the model to see if the esc was damaged and low and behold the Heli spools up fine on my bench. I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling because I don't know why the model could have shut down. The model was cool when I lifted off and I was only in the air for a minute before it shut down. I am going to start a new thread to see if I can get some ideas as to what could have happened. I'm guessing it's the esc?

Get a jive or YGE and be done. The YGE has sensor built in and can use the gov of the Vbar. Works very well IMO. (I have both)

I have had CC products try 3 times to kill my Logo. Never again.

Also- land EVERY flight in an auto. Even if it is eye level. Then you will have the ability when needed. Best way to start is eye level. then higher landing into the wind. However you do it - do it. I told a buddy that and he saved his TREX 500 10 times so far. He had crappy batteries, speed controllers you name it, but he saved it over and over.

YMMV

I ended up slapping a new Talon on the 500. It flies great now and the motor and esc stay cool which I am actually surprised about. I put about 50 flights on the model over the weekend and I think I actually like it better than the 600SX for flipping and quick moves. The 600 is still better for big air

Thx again for the help.
