This is the old black v bar 4.0 thank I ask could be upgraded to 5.3 pro ??? cost ????

New question seeing as my closed thread is still going.

Can I upgrade this old black v bar to the new 5.3 800 Xtreme program . I know why do this but I am not convinced its a bad thing.

I own a XXX 800 with no v bar and I think this would be better than the mini I got. unless someone knows that the programming is worth it I not sure if I want to spend $350.

I would like to here from someone who use regular v bar and special programmed v bar if he out reading?

Here's some info so you know it is possible. If your sensor is black plastic, it can be upgraded and will cost 35 euros ($45-$50).
If it's a metal sensor, no.
FYI, some with the older units have had to contact Mikado as their serial wasn't in the system so be prepared for that. If so, they'll work it out for ya' via e-mail.

I got the black sensor yahoo. Do sounds like I am in? Could ,would this be ok to use on a logo 800 if I fully upgraded it. Right now I got mini v bar and this one. Some said the sensor in these first black units were a lot better and cost more . Let me know I like to use what I have

The black sensor is fully upgradable. As long as the main unit has a USB, you are good to go.

Some had USB with analog, metal sensors so that is a wrong statement.

but, he's now stated he has a black sensor. if he has a black sensor and a USB port, he's good.

as far as the whole "the old black sensors are better", i'm not so sure about that. I thought the new silverline sensors had newer, better sensors.

either way, I have a bunch of older black sensors running on 600 and 700 class electric and nitro machines. they're great.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Right, there really wasn't a point in bringing it up (of course we all know why it was brought up...no other reason for it LOL) but they did indeed make units with usb and the old metal sensor.

On the subject of if it is good for the 800, that can be a tough call. With such a large and expensive build, on one hand it may not make sense to go the inexpensive route on the control. However, assuming you've had that vbar for a long time and it is known to be reliable, that may be a good reason to go with it. It may be just the numbers that were out there but it seems to me the older ones had a pretty low failure rate.

The metal sensor was silver, it also had a diffent plug on the end. The black sensors have the plug that all the other sensors have now so if the OP has a black box with USB and a black sensor, he can upgrade to 5.3.4 without issue. If the main box is serial or if the sensor is aluminum (silver) he cannot.

I don't know why this USB confusion has to be brought up again and again. Only thing relevant is the type of sensor.

So, as long as one has a black sensor, it does not matter whether the main unit is USB or serial?

All with the black sensor had the USB. But some units that had the USB that had the metal sensor cannot be upgraded.
We all knew that the OP had a unit that can be upgraded (and has the USB of course) as soon as he said it was the black sensor. The USB thing is only being brought up because an argument in another thread was lost by someone who can't handle losing an argument. It's pretty hilarious actually.

Yes it does matter. If it has a serial interconnect, it cannot be upgraded to anything above 4.0. If it is USB, it can go to 5.3.4
