I accidentally drain the Life rx pack completely. Is that pack toasted? I cannot charge it as the charger keeps saying Low Vol.

Possibly use the slow trickle charger your radio system came with to trickle it back up to a voltage your digital peak will recognize- then peak and cycle to check operation.

Even if you can "bring it back to life", would you really want to trust it to something that you hold dear to you ?? (and is expensive ?)

Learn from your mistake.... get rid of the battery and buy a new one ! They are cheap enough that I know ___I___ would not want to take the chance....

Also consider the safety inplications.....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Tend to agree with Juan- at the end of the day is your $1000+ heli worth risking over a $30batt?...

I have completely drained a Li-fe pack twice and my charger (PL6) charged it up fine. Are you sure you are charging in Life or A123 mode and NOT Lipo mode?

I thought one of the advantages of Li-fe packs was that they can be completely drained? Mine have been fine anyway.

Ok so anything below 1v per cell could damage them. When I say fully drained they were down till the Spektrum RX shut off which is about 3.5v and then my cell checker went off (I was testing how low the voltage went before it dropped off). Im not sure what voltage a cell checker needs to opperate?

Charge them back up. Wait a week and cycle them. You may need to trickle charge them on NiCD setting for a while at maybe 100 mA. They may or may not be toast.

LiFe packs can often be revived. They are more salvageable than lipos by far. Keep a close eye on them for several cycles after the restoration attempt. They may tend to drop off voltage at the end even more abruptly than their commonly sudden voltage drop.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

you'll know it when it is.... then you'll ask, "was it really worth $30-35 dollars ??"

I too have completely drained a LIFE pack and brought it back to life using my Power Lab 8. You will have to run the charge cycle numerous times until the battery voltage gets high enough to be accepted for full charge cycle.

I would not use in a flying bird, but would continue to use for setup on the bench purposes only.

That makes sense. LiFePO4 chemistry is different, in that the electrode shrinks a little bit and the crystal structure becomes more organized and densely packed with discharge, by a few percent. As opposed to the LiCo chemistry used in the standard LiPos, which swells with discharge.

Forgot to mention, the last LIFE pack I had that went to 0 volts swelled. It looked similar to a LIPO that had been drained. Not sure why this happened, but thought it might be relevant to someone. Additionally, I was able to charge it using the same methodology as described in my earlier post.
